We had a lovely suite but unfortunately it was above the bar and restaurant facilities and you could constantly hear music so couldn’t utilise our lounge for a quiet read. Admittedly it didn’t go on extremely late. Next time I would request a room at the opposite end because we loved the ambience of the hotel itself. Also, I would suggest that the hotel update their smoke alarm system to enable a human being to speak into it. We were woken by the alarm at 7.15am on Mothers Day instructing us to evacuate the building. We got the recorded warning about four times. When we eventually found a human being it was to be told something got burnt in the kitchen and they had turned the alarm off. If somebody could have announced that we were not in danger, over the speaker system, it would have been appreciated. However, it would not put me off returning to such a beautiful place. We were just unlucky this time.
