“Great location! Wonderful home base.”
We stayed at the Suites Viena for several days, exploring Madrid and taking side trips to Segovia, Toledo and Cuenca. While not in the center of all the action (this was a plus for us), the hotel was very convenient to the metro and gave us access to everything in the city and to train and bus stations. We walked to the Palacio and also to the Temple DeBod. We also walked to the Principe Pio bus station to catch a bus for Segovia. We had free wifi and also access to the computer and printer in the lobby. This was a big plus and enabled us to check routes and connections. The staff was very helpful and mostly bilingual (Spanish/English). There were nice restaurants one block over and a little market to buy fruits, drinks, etc. My only very minor complaint was that the kitchenette (that included a stove, fridge, etc.) was not stocked with any utensils, dishes, or pans. A sign said that you could ask for these things, but we would have liked to just have a few things available (spoons for yogurt, plates for sandwiches, etc.). The fridge was full of mini-bar stuff so not really easy to use much. We loved staying there and would recommend it highly.
“Excellent hotel, convenient location - recommended”
Clean, modern hotel very close to Plaza Espana. Room was quiet, very comfortable and included a kitchenette. Great set of restaurants in neighborhood, including crepes - look for the street with stars overhead. For breakfast, head uphill to the Viena Cafe. Las Tablas nearby for flamenco. Staff was extremely helpful and professional. Would stay again without hesitation.
“Terrific hotel - will return”
Suites Viena, in a slightly grungy area was a deilight. Very close to major attractions like the Royal Palace, walking distance to many other attractions and close to the metro. All staff at the hotel were welcoming, courteous and helpful. The hotel and rooms were spotless. Breakfast - a buffet - at 6 euros was outstanding value. An excellent place to stay.
“Quiet, friendly, convenient”
This hotel was exactly as advertised: centrally located, wee-maintained, with very friendly and helpful staff. It is on a narrow sidestreet with some grafitti-marked buildings, which is the reason for my one less-than-perfect score. The hotel itself, however, has a clea, modern exterior and interior. A short walk to bus or Metro. We slept like babies, and would definitely stay there again. Overall, incomparably better experience than with a four-star hotel at LAX.
“Model of Efficiency & Courtesy”
We found this hotel to be attractively furnished in a quiet neighborhood - although our travelling companion complained of the school noise from across the street, our room was on the back side of the hotel and we were not bothered. Convenient to one of the major tourist areas (the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral area) and a ten to fifteen-minute walk to Puerto del Sol - perfect! Good cafes & restaurants nearby also. Breakfast avaiable in lobby or in cafe on the corner. Only one downer: the public computer in the lobby was user-friendly but subject to hogging. On two occasions I was unable to use it due to a woman who seemed to be doing her business accounts online there, and would not give it up - she was online for over an hour before I gave up waiting. I suggest the hotel post a sign requesting a voluntary time limit of, say, fifteen or twenty minutes per person. The staff was helpful and courteous, able to communicate in English. Most inpressive: when I accidentally knocked the phone off the hook during the night, the clerk came up to our 4th-flr. room to rap on the door, so that we would get our wake-up and not miss our plane. Thanks! I give it four stars. p.s. There's a wonderful bakery just a few blocks away with pastries to die for.
“Great First Night Stop”
Arrived on early flight into Madrid, but room was already available to us. Very pleasant reception personnel who graciously re-confirmed our next day's flight to Barcelona. Hotel is just a few blocks up from a nice park/fountain with statue of Don Quixote, with open air shops set up selling jewelry, leather, scarves, and more. Minor downside is that the Spanish don't seem to have true double beds - only twins which they push together and make up separately. Great little places within walking distance for a quick inexpensive breakfast - "Tres Estrellas," fresh squeezed orange juice, toast with jam or tomate, coffee, for 3 euros!
“Excelent hotel in Madrid, I will come back in my next vacation”
Excelent hotel in Madrid, I will come back in my next vacation. It is very convenince location, close to the metro. The room hotel is very clean and confortable
“Bad customer service, not great value for your $”
Pros: newer hotel, contemporary clean design, great location allows for walking/metro to any place you desire. Cons: Staff were not friendly, and didn't seem willing to help with much of anything. Their was a sign in the room that they put us in which said "customers are permitted to smoke in this room". The smell of smoke in the room was very strong, along with some sort of freshner mixed. It was awful. When we went to the reception to ask that we switch to a non smoking room, they insisted smoking is not allowed and that customers cannot smoke. Another person at the reception desk came and indicated their were a couple rooms that customers could smoke in. After a long back and forth they switched us. We did not appreciate the poor customer service. Also, the two twin beds were very hard to sleep on a couple - very uncomfortable. Also, if you are tech savy, have PDAs/Laptops, bear in mind that you can only get wifi connected on your pda in the lobby. It is rather inconvenient to sit there letting your messages flow in on your phone after getting connected. Once you are in your room, you only have one physical line to connect to your laptop. Our room also faced a school building of some sort, we would wake up to kids yelling (sort of like the sound of kids at recess)all morning. In the future, I would not stay at this hotel due to the poor customer service. It wasn't terrible but we were not at all impressed.
“Not Worth it”
The beds were very uncomfortable and caused back pain for both of us. The room came with a tiny TV barely watchable and lacked many amenities that are standard in hotels.
“Business style hotel”
Quiet location and a very nice hotel with a modern minimalist style, but if you're on holidays and looking for a "Spanish" experience you need to look elsewhere. Buffet breakfast nice but scrambled eggs tasted awful and the bacon had always run out.
