AVISTA, the Italian restaurant located adjacent to the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair, has been awarded two rosettes from the prestigious AA Food Guide. Its Head Chef is Michele Granziera, who won the award for his superb mix of rustic and refined regional Italian cooking.
Michele was brought up in the North East of Italy, in a town called Vittorio Veneto. His childhood memories are made up of large family gatherings around a huge wooden table, eating home-made pasta and freshly-baked bread. He spent his childhood enjoying home-grown produce, and even Vittorio Veneto's famous Prosecco. Michele's father also owned a small restaurant in the village of Conegliano, so his culinary talents clearly shone from a young age.
Avista Bar - Adjacent to the Avista restaurant, the entrance to the small bar is flanked by bottles of wine stored behind glass. Low armchairs and banquettes are covered in leather and the bar is backlit with golden light. One wall is lined with panels of twinkling textured glass and large banana plants, giving the room a contemporary oriental feel.
Breakfast Room - Breakfast is served daily in Avista Restaurant dining room. Guests can choose buffet, continental, Japanese, or English fry-up breakfast.
Pine Bar - Styled to resemble a London pub. Walls are paneled in pine and the carpet is patterned; chairs and banquettes are covered in fawn leather. The bar has live piano music in the evenings and is frequented by locals. Drinks and snacks (including sandwiches, pizzas, and salads) are served late.
Shogun - A fixture at the hotel since the 1980s, this Japanese restaurant is set in a small, subterranean, stone-lined room. Low lighting and mannequins dressed as Japanese warriors set the atmosphere. Dishes include sushi, sashimi, and hot Japanese main courses. Serves lunch and dinner. Closed Mondays.
