“Abcone for family stay”
We stayed at this hotel because we had 4 people and wanted to be in the Kensington area. If you have criteria beyond that I would not recommend this hotel. The advertised in room wifi did not work and at the time we checked in were told that it had been out for over a week.. The staff was not helpful. In Expedia's add they also show a bar on site. At check in we were told that went away some time ago as well. I would not recommend this hotel or Expedia based on this disappointing stay. The last straw was the fire alarm going off at 3 in the morning. We eventually checked out early.
“Good value, clean hotel, great staff”
We stayed 4 nights at Abcone and were extremely pleased with the room and the excellent staff. They helped us find the right bus, tube stop, taxi, sights, and general information on everything we needed. Although the free WiFi was not working on the lower floor where we were, the receptionist gave us her office network and passcode to use on the ground floor.
“London visit”
The Abcone Hotel is located in a great neighborhood with the Underground and many restaurants close by. Prior to our visit I read many reviews of the hotel and was curious about the condition of the hotel and the staff. We found the hotel to be in definite need of new rugs/carpeting (as others have said). The front desk staff weren't all to friendly or helpful but the girls who offered your tea and toast in the morning were very nice (they also cleaned the hotel rooms). We had a room in the basement that was not all that comfortable, but to be honest we were there only to sleep, and it did have double doors that opened into a small outside sitting area. Our room was the size of a dorm room. IF we stayed there again I would have to ask for a room not right off the dining room. For the money spent for the area that we were in, it was a decent deal. I would recommend not staying here in the warm or hot weather, there is no air conditioning or fans.
“Good basic accomodation”
Nice hotel very conveniently located, close to underground trains and museums. Small rooms, but clean with full bathroom. Friendly staff.
“Iffy wifi”
single room behind fire door had weak signal. Had to sit in hall or on stairwell landing to get decent wifi. Also note that wifi session is maintained by keeping browser window open; not always a feasible system for smartphone applications that need to sync over the air.
“Location, location, location!”
I stayed here for a week in July and it was wonderful! Perfect location! Very close to a tube station and in a beautiful neighborhood. It's a quiet area so it's not good if you're looking for lots of nightlife, but it's very charming. The hotel is quite charming as well. It's small and older, but it's been kept up well. The weather was warm so the hotel room was too, but I was expecting that. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They helped me book a tour and answered any questions I had. The tube station is a very short walk from the hotel and from there you can get anywhere you want to go in London. I would definitely stay here again!
“Unimpressed”
The staff did not offer assistance with the internet service until the last evening. Then it was as if the problem was our fault. When we were preparing to go sight seeing, the front desk was not able to offer any suggestions of places to see, eat, or go. The room was extremely small, the television stations were limited to the 5 local channels with bad reception. This hotel is good for the person who is merely looking for a place to sleep while going to see sights.
“Not Impressed”
Hotel in excellent location -- a quick walk from the Gloucester Rd. tube stop of the Piccadilly Line (which also brings you directly to Heathrow). Neighborhood nice with convenience and grocery stores available, as well as some restaurants. Hotel room was not as expected -- asked for 3 twin beds, got 2 twin beds and a pull-out chair. I feel that we should have been informed that we would be getting a pull-out, since we were staying an entire week. In addition, the room was not air conditioned. Room cleaned and towels replaced every day by the time we got home from sight seeing. Carpets have seen better days and need to be replaced.
“Small, but satisfactory”
Good deal for the price, but not a lot too offer for comfort. Great location in quiet Kensington, the area has lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Also only a few blocks from Gloucester Tube Station, which is great. Wouldn't recommend if you plan on spending a significant amount of time in your room because they are small and the TVs are no good.
“Fantastic Hotel”
The Abcone Hotel is very well located close to the tube and major tourist sights. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, the room comfortable and clean. The bathroom was small but quite workable. For the price this hotel was exceptional. I'd definitely stay there again. The only negative, there was quite a bit of traffic noise through the night, even though it's not on a major road and is opposite a park,
