“3 day / 2 night stay”

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is in the prime location close to all cultural attractions. Also, this hotel is on probably the best street in sultanahmet. There are outdoor restaurants and hotels on the same street. The taxi ride from airport was about 40 TL. We got the queen deluxe room, that had a bedroom, a separate living room and a bathroom. The room was clean and furnished well. It wasn't spacious but most hotels in the neighborbood are on the smaller side. We got the room on the second floor facing another building. There was no view from room. Also, the internet wifi service went in and out during our stay. The breakfast was good and staff was friendly. I don't know if this hotel has a roof deck as we didn't look for it. This hotel is expensive but worth it given it is clean and close to major attractions. We stayed one night at WOW istanbul hotel (5 star, there is also a 4 star with the same name) so we can be closed to the airport. WOW istanbul hotel was 3 times cheaper with great ammenities but far from the main attractions.

“surprisingly excellent in every way”

Best Western hotels in the states that I have stayed in have not always been the best. This hotel is located in the middle of most of the attractions you would want to visit in Istanbul. We walked to all of them. It is a small hotel and does not remind one of any Best Western in the States. It was immaculate, the room was very pleasant. The breakfast which is included was beyond any expectation. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent as was the service. If I should return to Istanbul I would call way ahead to make sure I would be able to book this hotel.

We went in October and the weather was pleasant not too hot.Also the crowds are smaller at this time

Getting there

SWe flew Turkish airlines swhich were excellent. They have something called comfort class. It is actually firt class seats without all the first class amenities at a fraction of the cost of first class. Definetly recommend it

“great place to stay”

It was a great hotel. Even though it is Best Western, it feels like it is being run by a family. It is in a great location, especially if you are going to use Backpackers Travel for tours. They gave me an upgrade to a suite and when I got there 3 hours early, they got the room ready for me early. The breakfast is nice. Overall, I was happy with the hotel and would go back.

“Impressive Service & Location”

Right from the reception to restaurant to room service, everything has been wonderful and excellent. Staff went all out to assist us in whatever ways they can. For instance, the lady staff at the reception assisted in arranging 4 us a 1 day tour to Troia and it was very well executed. All the staff made us very comfortable while we are at Istanbul especially on our Honeymoon! Thank you Best Western Premier Regency Suites Hotel-Spa for your wonderful service. “Great hotel in Istanbul”

Wonderful Hotel, everyone on the staff was warm and curteous. The location was perfect, even the breakfast was great. Have them make you an omelet, I have no idea how they do it, but it was the best eggs I've ever eaten. I would certainly stay here again. Everything was wonderful.

“Little Gem in Istanbul”

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 10 days and loved it. I am one of those very compulsive travellers that likes to do lots of research into hotels, and this one had the best reviews. We were not disappointed. It was a bit pricier that the others, but worth it. We opted for an Executive King, which had a nice big bathroom, sitting area and two big windows. We were on the third floor facing the street, but the double-paned windows kept it silent in the room. The hotel is small, and all the rooms appeared to be of various sizes. There is a lovely roof deck with views of the Bosphorus, and one or two of the rooms had similar views, but most of the rooms were lower. Breakfast is very good, the staff is terrific, and the location is also great. The hotel is on a touristy strip with lots of restaurants you might want to skip, but it is so close to the prime spots of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia that it is hard to beat. We would definately stay there again.

Area recommendations

Lots to do in the old city, but don't forget to head over to Beyoglu around the Galata Tower, Karakoy, etc. We found a book called "Istanbul Eats, Exploring the Culinary Backstreets" that was worth its weight in gold. Every place it reccomended was terrific! Also, head out to the Chora Church and walk along the old Byzantine City wall to the water. The neighborhood it a bit run down, but seemed safe enough. It was cool to see how some of Istanbul's poorer residents lived. Lots of smiles from them!

When to go

We went over Thanksgiving, and the weather was unseasonably nice. The city was teeming with people, of course, but there where not too many tourists. I hear the high season is a bit nutty. We might try October next time, but probably not earlier because of the crowds.

Getting there

Turkish Airlines has a direct flight from Washington if you can afford it, but we too United and Luftansa through Frankfurt. Warning, don't let Expedia book you too short of a lay-over in European airports, as you have to go through security again when you change planes. We had an hour and 15 minues and had to run!

Getting around

Watch out for cab drivers - we took two and they both tried to cheat us. Agree on the fare when you get in, make sure they don't have the meter set to "night" and if you give them a 50 lira, watch to make sure they don't claim you gave them a 5.... We walked and took the Streetcars and metro - very modern, very efficient.

Shopping

There is the grand bazaar, sure, but explore the neighborhoods around the Spice Bazaar for a more authentic shopping experience with less hassle from guys trying to sell you stuff you don't want. Also, around the Galata Tower there are a bunch of very cute boutiques with good quality stuff at reasonable prices. (Also, try Galata Kiva restaurant - very good food!)

Dining

Asitane near the Chora Church - sublime. Antiochia at the top of the Tunel in Lower Beyoglu, and Galata Kiva. Also try Ficcin - great food and CHEAP!

“The best hotel in the best location for visiting istanbul”

I recommend this hotel for others if they are coming for Istanbul as the hotel located in the best location and its near from the historical area (Sultan Ahmet area) and its 4 min by walk. No taxi required to visit the Blue Mosq or Aya Sophia mosiq. Grand Pazar located 20 min by walk from the hotel.

“Post cruise Istanbul”

My wife and two college age children stayed in two rooms for two nights after a 7 night cruise. I was surprised to find a Best Western to such high standards. The photos clearly represent the condition of the property, and the location is perfect for exploring the old city. Staff was helpful with restaurant recommendations and arranging a transfer to the airport. There are great restaurants on the street just outside the hotel.
