“Beautiful Grounds and Condo”
Beautiful grounds and condo! Very pleasant, helpful, and enthusiastic staff. Air conditioning is an extra charge. We did not use, instead relying on natural ventilation which was perfect. However, homebody types not used to the outdoors will want A/C, so be prepared for extra charges. The location on the Kona coast and close to Kona is ideal!
“Great”
V good. Rooms and facilities excellent. Kids loved the room and pool(s), as did we.
“Enjoyable ambiance”
The pools, tennis courts and table tennis were wonderful. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Some fun routes to walk and explore from the hotel. The beautiful Sheraton is close by where we had an incredible Xmas dinner. Kayaking to Captain Cook and seeing the spinnaker dolphins was a highlight.
“Great place for a quiet rest.”
We spent nine days at the Outrigger in December 2012. We had a nice room with a partial view of the ocean. We had two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room and living room. It was very clean, very comfortable, and very easy to live in. I would give the rooms and their comforts full marks; they were excellent. The pools and grounds were very nice. The location is good. There is no good place to swim in the ocean on the grounds. The view is great, but not the swimming. However, we were within a five minute drive of a number of good beaches, and found access to great snorkeling about 25 minutes south near Captain Cook. We like to walk, and there were some okay walks in the area, but all the best walks we found were 20 to 30 minutes away, at the nearby national and state parks. What we want is a nice comfortable place to stay and rest, and from which we can take trips to great locations. This place fit the bill very nicely, and I would highly recommend it to people who want a clean, well run, quiet place to relax. We've stayed in a number of hotels and condos, and I'm not sure I can remember a better experience in terms of the rooms and grounds.
“Great Location, Great Value for the Price”
If you're looking for a quiet, oceanfront property, close to Kailua/Kona but not right in the middle of it, this is the place for you. We booked a 2 bedroom partial ocean view condo the week of Christmas and received a ground floor ocean view condo overlooking the ocean and ocean pool. The tile in the bathroom is somewhat dated, but the condo was very clean and very spacious. And the staff is very friendly. Great Keauhou location - 1 mile south of great snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach, conveniently located to grocery, shops, and restaurants in the Keauhou shopping center, short drive to Magic Sands beach and Kailua/Kona, and walking distance to Keauhou harbor, where we booked a great morning snorkel with SeaQuest, and night manta ray snorkel with Fairwind Hula Kai - highly recommend both. Easy drive to Place of Refuge (great snorkeling). Stop at The Coffee Shack for breakfast or lunch on the way - great food, beautiful views, and amazing desserts. Excellent place to stay. We had a great time.
“Great Resort!”
Right in the break zone as the surf hits the coast, this was an awesome location and the resort had good facilities and was a short (400m) walk to a great snorkelling, canoe paddle board spot
“Holiday Bliss!”
We didn't know what to expect, but were marvellously surprised at the huge size and space within our condomium. it comfortably accommodated my husband, Mother and myself. Beautifully furnished, close to the pool with a good view of the ocean.
“great”
Great hotel to stay in Lahaina. Very close to Downtown, beach and harbour.
“Great Hotel. Would definitely stay there again. Very Impressed”
This was a great hotel with excellent service and quality. As soon as we arrived they upgraded us from a fair view room to an ocean view room for no extra charge. overall it was a great place to seat back and enjoy Hawaii. Was a little bit out of town, but there is a free shuttle that runs regularly from different hotels to town and back. There is also a small mall or centre in walking distance with everything you need to fill the fully equipped kitchen. Fantastic Resort loved it!!!!
“Golf, Kid stuff, Sunsets and friendly geckos...What else do you need?”
Everything at the Kanaoloa turned out to be perfect. The location: just off highway 11 and 2 minutes from the Keahou shopping center which is convenient (and cost savings if you eat "at home" most of the time--and with kids, that's not a bad idea). The room: 2 bedroom fairway view unit on the ground floor. Unlike many other condos we have rented, this was very clean (they even had white carpet and furniture)but comfortable. The amenities: The pools were clean and not crowded. Activities: They have a Childrens Activity Director and they take kids for "bug hunts", arts and crafts and other neat things. This place really does "have it all" without the high cost of a "keiki kamp" available at some of ther high-end resorts. Downside: If you need A/C, it's not available, but you really don't need it. Also, they have round-the-clock security that cruises the property in a golf cart. If you're a light sleeper (like me), you'll hear/see the guard 2-3 times a night due to the fact that you'll have the louvers open for cross ventilation. Lastly, the Kanaloa has great geckos that hang out on your lanai. You can get really close and even pet them sometimes. If you see a little guy without a tail, that would be "Charlie." Please be nice to him. Mahalo
