“Cheap but very basic”
This hotel is is a pretty good spot although you should ask for a room facing the water as otherwise the Gold Coast Highway is your view. The rooms are very run down (warn carpet etc) but it is cheap and in a conveient location. Fine if you need somewhere to crash for an event but you certainly wouldn't want to have to spend long in the room other than sleeping.
“Pleasantly surprised”
This was better than expected. We know The Coast well and were aware that some appartment buildings of this age can be a little down at heal but not this one. For the price it was great. Very clean, quite large and a pleasant outlook from the balcony. It was also a very warm evening and the aircon was just right and was quiet, which is unusual in places that are not new. It was also convenient to a number of small resturants and the surf club which has an excellent bistro which is where we ate. Was rated 4 stars I think but this is probably overstating it a bit but all in all very comfortable and excellent value for money.
“Not impressed”
Upon arrival you need to dial a number and get instructions to open a safe to retrieve a room key. Linen service not included unless you pay extra, no cooking in the room whatsoever not even toast. Lucky there are restaurants across the road and a laundromat. location is great. Room was was ok however the bathroom was dirty and smelled of sewage. Not likely to stay there again, better to pay a bit more for a better quality hotel.
