“Great location!”
Very nicely appointed hotel with great facilities; pool, gym, bar etc. Friendly & helpful staff. Was very easy to find & had easily accessible off-street parking; room-card swipe entry & exit. Great location; 5 min walk to station, U-turn lane available directly outside hotel, 5 min drive to freeway, cinema close & great variety in eating places short walk from hotel. Supermarkets and mall 10 min walk. Perhaps only down-side for us was no dvd player in room (In house movies available at premium price) & the sound for TV was not very good even at 100% (makes it difficult for older guests). Loved the daily service for beds & clean towels. Room was fairly quiet even though we were at front of hotel on top floor. Overall, great stay & perfect location for us!
“Hotel fails to please”
I have stayed with the Novotel Hotel Glen Waverly before, giving average feedback about the hotel. My last visit was supposed to be a 2 week stay, but turned into a 28 hour stay because of the following: 1) The food was appalling and made me feel ill. 2) I experienced a failure with my key card, therefore being locked out of my room at 6am. Normally this would not bother me as I would pop down to reception to renew the key card. However I found the receptionist asleep in an arm chair in the hotel bar. I find this very unprofessional. 3) I was stuck in the hotel lift with the lift doping and bouncing back up every few seconds. This was a very frightening experience. I understand the hotel has been facing issues with the lift in question. When I pressed the call button in the lift; it transferred me to an automatic voice message system were it requested I press 1 for reservations, 2 for, etc, etc or hold for assistance. I was stuck in the lift. I should not have to wait for assistance! Or listen to 5 options I cannot use. 4) Hot water from the tap in the bathroom was brown and unusable. For my troubles, Novotel Glen Waverly offered me a new room on the first floor to have clean water, and would not need to use the list. They also offered a free breakfast. I opted to stay in another hotel, and will not be returning.
“"fine"”
Our stay was fine. Room and bath were good. We were given a room that looked at a concrete wall about 5 feet away, which wasn't so great. The internet connection rates are expensive with inflexible rules. Internet rate was more than the Sydney 4-star Holiday Inn we were at the previous week. Even at that price its slow and limits MB too!!
“Everything is here”
What can I say? The hotel is clean, tidy and walking distance to everything. The staff are universally friendly, polite and helpful. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Melbourne and I would certainly chose it again.
