How to Spend a Weekend in Singapore
The tropical island city-state of Singapore is a fascinating destination with much to see and do. Even if you only have a weekend in Singapore, you’ll be able to see the top landmarks and attractions for a memorable experience. Here are some itinerary ideas for spending 2 or 3 days in Singapore and how to make the most of your visit.
Friday Evening
Friday evening is the start of your 72 hours in Singapore. For a farm-to-table experience, visit Open Farm Community for dinner in a unique restaurant with a land plot to grow herbs and spices for the recipes. The restaurant also serves ingredients from local growers, fishermen and farmers, such as farmed barramundi and beef.
You could also take a dinner tour to see the city at night and dine on delicious local foods as you pass the iconic attractions. After dinner, you’ll be treated to delectable dessert as you finish the tour and get a feel for the culture of Singapore.
To start your trip off with a bang, see Singapore by air with the Singapore Flyer. The towering Ferris wheel has an observation deck that rotates in the air to showcase spectacular views of the skyline. The ride also offers historical information about the Flyer during the trip.

Saturday Morning
On Saturday morning, you’ll have 48 hours in Singapore. Start with a hearty breakfast at Ng Ah Sio Pork Ribs Soup Eating House, a food stall with tender pork ribs served in delicious broths with local herbs and spices.
After eating, your first stop should be the iconic Merlion, a half-lion, half-fish statue and fountain in the heart of the urban area. The mythical figure is important to Singapore history and culture, as it represents the heritage as a fishing village and the ‘lion city.’ You could also visit Orchard Road, a fun shopping destination with an array of designer fashion and accessories, traditional goods and unique finds in a variety of shops and boutiques.
For lunch, visit Keng Eng Kee for wok-dishes like hor fun, claypot pork liver and coffee pork ribs. You’ll also like Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak, a delicious eatery with coconut-milk-infused rice and dishes like fried chicken and fish cake.
Saturday Afternoon and Evening
After lunch, head to Jurong Bird Park to see colourful and exotic birds in their natural habitat, or visit River Safari, a zoo and freshwater aquarium with boat tours. You’ll also like the ArtScience Museum, a fascinating art and technology museum with immersive exhibits.
Saturday night in Singapore is when things really get exciting. For dinner, head to Corner House for ‘gastro-botanica’ cuisine that includes delicious ingredients like Toriyama beef and New Zealand Cod. To work off your meal, visit the Gardens by the Bay, a massive complex of parks and gardens that offer some natural escape from the city. At night, the gardens have light and music shows that illuminate the exotic plant life for an enchanting experience.
If you’re looking for a more exciting evening on the town, visit Clarke Quay to find a thrilling bar, pub or club for cocktails and live music. There’s a lot to choose from in this area, from cabaret clubs to house and techno scenes.

Sunday Morning
On Sunday morning in Singapore, you’ll have 24 hours left for sightseeing. Begin with breakfast at Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus, a Malay restaurant with broth dishes bursting with delicious flavours and noodles cooked to perfection.
If you’re bringing the kids, be sure to spend some time at Universal Studios Singapore, a movie-themed amusement park modelled after the popular U.S. attraction. It boasts a variety of thrill rides, kiddie rides, shopping and tours for hours of fun. The kids will also like the S.E.A. Aquarium, a vibrant marine life attraction with diverse species of native and global sea life in beautiful displays.
For lunch, stop in Sushi Kimura for a unique twist on Japanese cuisine with a talented sushi chef. The restaurant features only artisan ingredients for Japanese-inspired small plates and delicious sushi with culinary delicacies and surprising flavours.
Sunday Afternoon and Evening
After lunch, take in some of the local culture with the Asian Civilisations Museum, a vast museum with exhibits on the multicultural heritage and influences in Singapore. The Sri Mariammam Temple, a lavish 19th century Hindu temple, is also a highlight.
On Sunday night in Singapore, you’ll have plenty of options for how to spend your time. Treat yourself to a Michelin-starred dinner at Candlenut, a delectable Peranakan restaurant with gorgeous decor and a carte blanche menu of cultural staples.
Before you leave, be sure to experience some of Singapore’s local wildlife at the Night Safari nocturnal zoo. The zoo is home to an array of animal species like pangolins, palm civets and fishing cats, which can be seen with an exciting show hosted by an experienced tour guide. You could also shop at the Bugis Night Market to pick up some unique gifts for your family back home.
