"Lovely stay at Yufuin. There is a free pick-up and drop-off options available from JR Yufuin Station which is a must unless you want to walk up crazy hills to get to the property. The room we stayed had traditional tatami mats and plenty of space to lounge around before enjoying hot springs. This property allowed us to book a private bath free of charge, and also the public bath that is open til late which was convenient. There is also free Japanese kimono that you can wear during your stay....

"Nice Japanese boutique hotel within walking distance to town. Single storey Japanese style cottages or rooms (new wing) surrounded by Japanese gardens and features. 4-5 private in door and outdoor onsens to choose from. Delicious breakfast and for those with 1/2 board, the set dinner was very good with free flow of sake, coffee/tea and orange juice. Coffee/tea and orange juice also available at the reception lobby throughout our stay. Will stay again if visiting Yufurin in near future"

"The hotel itself is in a great location with amazing services and teams. The room we stayed in was nice and big and was restocked when needed. I definitely like that we need to take our shoes off at the entrance and the entire hotel is covered in tatami mats! My only issue is that this hotel is used by a lot of foreign tour groups who may not be the most polite people. We had lots of people push in queues for food or drinks, not clean properly before getting in the onsen, etc. so beware of...

"I think a lot of the Onsen properties are on the hillside above the city proper which is down the hill quite a ways. You need to drive to get to downtown area which is rather bustling. "Had dinner and breakfast along with the private bath room. The food was excellent each time and plentiful (dinner was a little on the large side so if you stay, I might recommend skipping lunch). The staff was friendly throughout the stay and greeted us at the entrance when coming in for check in and after out outing. Location is close to the bus station from Beppu station and just one street away from Beppu Jigoku (Hell) which makes for convenience when coming by public transportation....
