About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup basketball game at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time in Yosemite! The house is beautiful and had everything we wanted—especially the hot tub! We all agreed that it was our best vacation rental ever.
We had a wonderful time. The home was very comfortable and equipped with all the essentials. Although, we only had 4 towels for 4 people for the entire stay. And I didn’t know who to contact to find out how to get more, or were we suppose to launder them? But we made due and had a great family trip.
Enjoyed staying here this year for our annual trip to Yosemite/Badger pass. The full bed and bath downstairs is amazing. 2 bed upstairs have full beds and a full bathroom upstairs. The loft area has 2 twin beds and a futon! The kitchen has all your needs ( no crockpot). There is a spa but our schedule prevented us from using it. There were towels for us to use for the spa as well. If you forget any groceries, the Market is a 5 minute walk, and you can meet Sam the cat. This cabin was great for our stay, oh and there is a carport to protect your vehicle from snow.
The place had a beautiful living room where you can gather with family. The kitchen had all the equipment needed to prepare meals after long hikes. The grill worked great too. Highly recommend this place for it’s overall value.
This place was perfect for our most recent trip to Yosemite. We spent a week at the cabin, and couldn’t feel more at home. The place is located close to a creek, few awesome trails, and was amazing to relax in the hot tub after long Yosemite hikes. We worked remotely many of the days there and the internet and WiFi connection held very strong. Place also came equipped with all the kitchen utensils we needed for grilling and cooking, very well stocked. Would definitely recommend this spot, and will be back again!

Good stay
Liked the property, there was no river in the front because it was in August so that was disappointing. The bottom stairs sofas are not sleeper sofas which I wish they were. We all slept comfortably and it was a good size. The porch wraps around and is very nice size to hang out outside.
The property was exactly as described and much more. My boys and I enjoyed the openness of the kitchen, dinning area, and living room. Very spacious. The deck and water stream in the front was beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely go back. 10/10 for reserving, locals very friendly, and small stores really close in case you forget to bring anything (which I did).
Loved the location of this rental property within park boundaries. It is a good 45 minute drive to the “hustle and bustle” of the main areas in Yosemite Village, which worked out well when we wanted to escape the busyness yet close enough to access the main attractions and some hikes. Near to the historical center, swinging bridge (great swimming hole), and Mariposa Grove. Also close to the Sugar Pine railroad-would recommend doing the dinner train ride. Home was clean. Not well-equipped with spices or items I have had in some other VRBO’s. Main grocery stores are an hour away, so try to bring what you need; otherwise you’ll be paying top dollar at one of the local markets. Pics are a little deceiving as to the surroundings of the home - neighboring homes are actually quite close. Spacious deck outside with the hot tub as well as a spacious indoor common area gave us plenty of space to spread out in. Would highly recommend staying here.
