About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Nice cabin
Nice cabin in the woods, just inside Yosemite national park with lots of other rentals around.
Nice place to come back to after warm hike in summer.
Please be aware there is no AC. Also some appliances need some attention: sliding door kept sliding out of the rail, fridge drips, window blinds decorative part kept falling off.
But nicely decorated and a large back patio with fully equipped kitchen !
So glad we discovered you! From easy online reservation, to friendly staff at office, to condition of cabin and grounds, to easy check-out, and value for our dollar -- it was all great! Thanks!
We were very pleased with this 2 bdrm/ 2 bath cabin with well equipped kitchen, spacious living/dining area and pleasant tree-shaded deck. Located about an hour from Yosemite Valley. Neighbors were close, but quiet. Nearby grocery stores were handy, but best to shop in Oakhurst outside park for better grocery options.

Great cabin
We had a great experience! The cabin had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Finding the cabin was a little tricky since the road didn't show which cabins were there but the cabin itself was exactly what the description said. The only downside is that there was no WiFi which was the only thing that all of the guests didn't enjoy but they managed to get the WiFi by going over to another cabin that was rented by another family member. Would recommend this cabin!

We enjoyed the cabin and was perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner.
The draw backs were that it took far too long to heat up as the common area is too large for the heating system - even with the fireplace going non-stop and there were no heating units in the bedrooms or bathrooms. Also would have liked to have had a broom handy to be able to clean up. Also, if you have a game you re planning on watching be sure to give yourself a good half hour to figure out the television as it had to be reprogrammed each time we used it. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this cabin. We had a lovely time.
