About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native Americans in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 110 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Great location to stay and explore Yosemite. There are some lovely trails just by the lodge. The lodge is basic, just how it is seen in the photos but it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds are big and comfy!
All nice ... very clean and quite... 2 bedrooms with a big king bed.. and a very equipped kitchen... nice upper patio.... very quite neighborhood... will go again...
We love our stay here. The location is an hour away from Yosemite Valley but there are a lot of hiking trails in this location. Only 16 minutes from Mariposa Grove. On our last night we decided to walk around and found out that there are rivers and waterfalls around the area. We hiked the swinging bridge trail it was so wonderful.
The house is clean. There is no dishwasher inside the house. Maintenance team are quick to fix our concern.
Overall this is really a nice visit.
We arrived late at night and our envelope with house keys and instructions was exactly where management said we would find it. Our house was spacious, clean and comfortable. Wawona is an unbeatable location inside the South Yosemite entrance. The grounds have numerous cabins, a small grocery store, even a tiny public school. A nice waterfall within walking distance. It felt safe and peaceful here. This greatly reduced time getting to various locations. Nice having management office nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful, with advice on where to hike and watch the sunset. Will definitely stay here when we return someday.
This cabin is exactly as advertised - clean and in great location in the Redwoods of Wawona. Gets super warm in summer but cools down at night with windows open. Wish there were more fans in the cabin, but overall a great stay!
Cabin was very roomy, the creek along the property is beautiful, the staff are super friendly, the store has everything you need. The only downfall is that there is no air conditioning in the unit
We had a great time with our visit. The only mild disruption was a very late checkin. The home was very nice, and the small ‘village’ was very quaint. The general store and owner were extremely helpful. Thank you! We will be back!

cottage away from the crowds
The cottage was away from the crowds in the valley and relatively comfortable. The furniture needs updating. The cream love seat was stained and looked dirty. The pull out couch sinks in the middle. It may have been nice to have a smaller wooden kitchen table to match the chairs instead of the old counter that served as a very large dining room table. We did not use the TV.
It was nice to have two bathrooms and the beds were comfortable.
The kitchen was large and adequate. There was no picnic table outside which was unfortunate but we sat on the chairs to have our coffee in the morning. The grill was very useful. The night time sounds were calming. Given that we were hiking most of the day the cottage served its purpose as a place to relax and stay together.
We really enjoyed our stay at this peaceful cabin at the end of the road!
The check-in/checkout process went very smoothly and we got some great advice for future stays.
The cabin is just a short walk from Chilnualna Falls trailhead and a bridge crossing over the creek. It’s at the end of the road, so it was quiet with only a few cars passing by on occasion.
Inside the cabin it was basic, but nice.
The kitchen has most of what you need, and the TV has satellite and a DVD. The WiFi wasn’t blazing fast, but it served most of our needs.
There was a Chromecast feature, but I couldn’t figure out how to connect to it.
The beds were comfortable with plenty of bedding and pillows.
It was cool while we were there, so the heaters worked great, and the fireplace was cozy.
“No A/C” might be an issue in the warmer months, but it wasn’t a problem during our stay.
The wrap-around deck was great for morning coffee and evening drinks.
Thanks so much for letting us stay at your place, Roy C!
Property inside the park, made drive into valley easy. Great store ( Pine Tree Market) had some great steaks and scallops - who knew ?? Any issues dealt with quickly…
It was a wonderful location and perfect spot. I loved the views and the rooms were very clean. The living room could use a little more TLC with the couch and carpet stains. But it was great for the price and we loved the porch! Would come back again.
The cabin is a little out dated but overall is good. It’s located in an area like a small village and it’s safe to walk or hike around. There is a fall nearby so we hike there n enjoyed the scenery
All in all the property condition in the interior was just OK. Could use A LOT of updating and we felt it was over priced for what we got. From the kitchen, to the bathroom, to the wood paneling, furniture could use updating. We know we are in the woods but did see a mouse and mouse droppings. Location was good.

Yosemite is amazing and this is great base
Came up to Yosemite for 3 days and used this as base. Clean, comfortable and pretty much faultless. Yes a little dated but that shouldn't put anyone off

Lovely place in Wawona!
We drove to Yosemite Village every day (about 45-50 minutes each way) but the drive is so pretty and it was so nice to be back away from the crowds in the evening! With a wonderfully stocked kitchen - we were able to cook our meals and relax after a long day of hikes etc. There were only three of us - but would have been comfortable for three more!!

Great Cabin!
Cabin was great had more than enough room for us to feel comfortable and have our own space when needed. Had everything that we needed in the kitchen for us to cook and enjoy as if we were at our own home. Very spacious deck we really enjoyed our view and surroundings. Very warm and comfortable, will definitely return to the Redwoods!

Wawona Area Cabin
This cabin was clean, warm and comfortable. It is pretty basic inside, but has everything you need. The only thing missing (or maybe I just didn't find them) were games, so bring your own. It has a large deck which would be great to have in warmer weather. The location is nice as it is at the end of the road, and there is hiking right out the door. It takes almost an hour to get into Yosemite Valley from here, but not a bad drive. While here, we enjoyed dinner at the Wawona, which is very close by. We would recommend this cabin.

Great Cabin close to hiking trail
Warm, comfortable, social cabin. Large dining table allowed for family group interaction, games. No kindling so didn't make a fire, but there was a lot of wood under the deck. BBQ worked just fine. Spacious deck to enjoy the trees. Terrific hike just steps from the front door. No Yosemite crowds. Quiet surroundings, unless the power went out and generators started up... but that was ok and Redwoods sorted it out in a few hours. Wi Fi was adequate for the area but don't come to Yosemite if you absolutely need to remain connected to the internet. Staff were great. Would absolutely stay here again.

Summer Fun
Deer Hollow cabin was fabulous! Large enough for three generations to mix, match, and relax. Cabin had everything we needed for preparing meals. Our favorite activity was hiking to the swinging bridge for a swim in the creek after a full day of sightseeing throughout the park. We especially appreciated the peace and quiet away from the crowded valley floor.
Nice cabin. Nice layout. Nice looking on the inside and out. Parking driveway slightly awkward. Nice big dining area and fun dining table. Nice deck. Good flow to the cabin. Lots of windows and sunlight. Two bedrooms with two bathrooms next to each room. Nice location. The cabin has a lot of personality but it could use a little tlc. Dishes, cookware, utensils are old and incomplete. Drawers are a bit dirty and beat up. Windows need curtains that don't drag on the beds. Hopefully the owners give the kitchen a touch up, new drapes and a modern tv and the place would be perfect! Overall this place is great.
Our stay was wonderful and the cabin was perfect! Cabin was well equipped and everything was in good working order. Loved the deck. We grilled two nights, one night while it was snowing (perfect). Great hiking trails, and beautiful scenery. The location if perfect! Can't wait to go back!!

A Great Stay
We had so much fun in your cabin, playing games, watching the wildlife everyday. The home was perfect for a relaxing retreat after many hours of hiking and swimming in the river. Thank you for a great stay.
