About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Loved our time at this cabin. So cozy, and clean. Everything we needed, great WiFi, kitchen set up,
Comfy beds, very quiet area. Would stay again. Going to tell our kids. They would love this
Great location with fabulous outdoor living space. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the bedrooms were really comfortable. The showers were solid! I will be coming back and I highly recommend this property.
We stayed in the cabin at Wawona and had the best time. It was a beautiful hour drive to the Yosemite valley, which i thought might be a bit too long but it was so nice to be away from the crowds in the valley. Pine Tree Market had everything we needed and it was just a short walk.
Just what we were looking for: a quiet, clean, cozy cabin, with very comfortable beds, inside Yosemite!
Then provided fans allowed us to cool the place off well in the evening, even after 91 degree days.
This is a beautiful cabin with knotty pine throughout. The fireplace is a joy even in Spring, yet there is also a heater to keep you warm. The deck is large and accommodating. One bedroom has a king bed, the other two queens. The sofa is not a pull out. It is in a neighborhood of similar lovely cabins.
The cabin was well laid out and functional. The Master bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect. We did not use the other bedroom. We rearranged the furniture to make it work better. The chairs faced the sofa and neither faced the fireplace or TV. Loved the fireplace and included firewood. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils and gadgets. However, there were no basic items like salt, pepper, oil, storage bags, etc… Other homes we have stayed in have included what was left behind by prior occupants. This one was stripped clean. Fortunately, we brought some of our own items. The cushions were removed from the patio furniture. We would have liked them for hanging out on the back deck.
The fees were excessive but overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The community of Wawona was very nice. It was in the National Park but away from the crowds and congestion.
This is a very comfortable cabin for four adults. Plenty of gathering room indoors and out. Beds are very comfortable but bring your own pillows. Kitchen has everything you will need and the store has most items you forgot to bring with you. Will definitely go back.
The kitchen had every gadget possible for cooking. The BBQ was awesome!
Great place, very comfortable

Quaint and adorable cabin
This cabin is as advertised, it had all the basic necessities and was well equipped. While not a surprise, it is about 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Yosemite Valley (park entrance is much closer).
Two notes, 1) cabin does not have AC (it does not state that it does, but it gets extremely stuffy during the hot summer months). And 2) the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. You can feel every spring and coil in the king in the master bedroom. It made sleep near impossible. Upgrade the beds and it would be a huge improvement!
