Great place to stay…very close to center of town. Bus stop across the street. A bit quirky but a more realistic place to stay to experience York. Breakfast was excellent! Highly recommend!

I stayed for 2 nights,My room,29 was in need of updating and damp marks on ceiling and paint scratches on walls furniture very worn and in need of a touch of paint.Bed was comfortable and breakfast staff vey helpful and friendly.

Overall a good stay, had everything I needed and the staff were friendly attentive. The rooms are a bit dated and the walls thin to the point you can hear everything in the room next door - including a tap running at midnight!! Breakfast was of a great standard and lots of choice, a better experience would be had without the random 1950’s music

We stayed in a superior double and it was perfect. Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful. Although there was some traffic noise the room was huge and the bed very comfortable meaning a good night's sleep was had. The bathroom was large and everything worked well. Breakfast was excellent, a good choice for continental breakfast and cooked food to order. Lovely stay all round.

Warm welcome, comfortable room, in a slightly quirky hotel. Reception staff & waiting staff very helpful. The decor in places (including our en-suite!) is beginning to need a refresh, but everywhere was clean. Breakfasts were excellent, but no dinner service at this hotel. However, The Plough pub across the road serves tasty, albeit uncomplicated food in a convivial atmosphere. Guests certainly need to be aware that it’s a lengthy walk into the city, but this is easily overcome by using the very frequent local bus & Park & Ride services which pickup from t’other side of the street. Overall, a successful stay.

Ambience. Staff. Bar and Breakfast great. In a wonderful location very close to my heart. Downside. No mention on any sites that, at the present, the Hotel is unable to provide any food other than Breakfast. It didn't impact my stay, as such, but I have enjoyed their bar and evening meals in the past. The staff very kindly recommended "The Plough" as an alternative food venue. However you need to be aware it only serves food 12-14:00 and 17-21:00 Monday to Friday and all day weekends. Evenings get booked up very quickly so go early. Looking forward to going back.

Great hotel, lovely staff. We were visiting family in York so didn’t need to use public transport, but there is a bus route outside to get into town. Clean tidy and comfortable bedrooms, beautiful gardens around the hotel. Would recommend and will be back again.
