Nice staff but moldy bathroom
upper floor of a pub, but not too noisy, room is big, a bit worn down, a lot of black mold in the bathroom, breakfast is from 9 to 10, but they accommodated my request for having it at 8/8.30
The staff were amazing! Even though the building was old, I didn't mind as it felt authentic and provided a nice town experience. Everything was great, and the staff were very polite. The breakfast was excellent, and there was a fantastic live music experience!
Really well located on the doorstep of the city. Had a very friendly welcome and staff were accommodating & helpful throughout. The site said it was LGBTQ friendly and it really was as a LGBT couple celebrating a wedding anniversary we felt very comfortable here. Breakfast was really nice & a decent size. The room was a good size, clean and had a nice view of the art gallery. Evening entertainment was lively & enjoyable. Will be staying here again when we next visit York.
Lovely friendly B&B stayed a few times and always made welcome. All staff Lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Great location short walk to Minster. Lots of bars and resturants near by. Would definitely recommend staying here in future
Lovely, helpful people! The beds were so comfortable with amazing soft sheets. Breakfast was very hearty that one didnt ned lunch. It is above a pub but you couldnt hear the noise below. Karaoke night was so much fun. Very close to everything without being in the center. 10min walk to the train station. 2 min to york minister, the wall and hop on hop off buses. Highly recommend!
Just returned home from a 2 nights stay at the white horse . Scott and his staff are very friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again when visiting York . Thanks for a lovely stay .
A nice break away for a few days in York. The hotel is very central right next to Bootham Bar. Room large, cleans and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and large portions. The only problem was no parking on site and having to park at a nearby carpark cost £34 per day !!

Very nice owners, nice room. I was too cold the first night but they fixed it for the rest of my stay. Maybe a bit expensive, all considered, but overall a positive experience

City Centre Pub
Basic room. No information in the room. Wi-Fi works but is only 15 Mbps. Staff very nice. Breakfast between 9 and 10am. Not bad for the city centre. We didn’t notice any adverse noise quite peaceful really.
The rooms are above a pub, in a convenient location. They are alongside the York art gallery and a very short walk to the Minster. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within a short walk as you would expect. The White Horse is only around 10 minutes walk from the station on well lit busy streets.
I arrived at the hotel about an hour before official check-in time, but the staff were very friendly and managed to get my room ready early while I settled down with an excellent pint (good choice of beers and hand-pulls). Food was also available, but I didn't try any. However, if it is as the good as the breakfast next day, then there should not be any complaints.
The room was at the top of a flight of stairs, so be careful if you have very heavy bags. However, although it was a little tired, it was very clean, large, comfortable and warm.
There was no noticeable noise from the pub or the traffic.
The tea and coffee tray was well stocked, and there was plenty of storage space in the stand alone wardrobe and a separate cupboard.
Despite a gap in the window, the bathroom was very warm and there were no problems with the shower. There was even a bath!
Breakfast next morning was excellent, with cereals to start and a choice of simple cooked breakfasts to follow. I chose the large, but despite cancelling the toast and baked beans, it still kept me going until the evening.
I will consider staying again the next time that I am in York, as the experience was excellent value

Lovely location. Staff were very helpful. Rooms are a little tired but they are perfectly acceptable as they are clean and comfortable.
Breakfast choices are great. They are more than happy to accommodate any needs.
We had a planned power cut when there and the staff were very well prepared. They gave us a powerbank, pre charged lights for our room and put heating on to ensure the rooms were warm before it went off. Couldn’t have asked for better customer service. Would definitely stay here again.
Loved our stay very friendly welcome and rooms were nice and big with all mod cons needed for stay .breakfast included was very nice too couldn’t fault anything with a few steps out of door you were in the York walls ..
This hotel is in a perfect spot just out of York as to be quiet but close enough to walk into York. It has a relaxed friendly feel with it and nothing is to much trouble for the staff, I would not hesitate to recommend it and will definitely stay there again when we next ho to York.
The white horse , a little gem in a beautiful city
A very pleasant stay , room warm and comfortable, 5 minute walk from the minster , host's and staff very welcoming, great breakfast and wide variety of beers and spirits , would highly recommend a visit
Friendly, attentive Staff. Room & en-suite were nice and clean. Breakfast is lovely. Fantastic location. There's parking just across from the Hotel, and at the Train Station (about a 10 min walk).
