"This is a lovely hotel. We didn't know what to expect and upon arrival, were delighted by the decor, cleanliness, and the professionalism of the manager who greeted us. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was spacious and comfortable, with all of the basic amenities that we would expect. Breakfast was next level. A full English breakfast, including a full gluten-free and veggie option with doorstop toast. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future, and can't recommend it enough if you are looking for a clean, easy, nicely decorated, quiet, close-to-town location. "

"In a single room it didn’t feel I was treated the same as friends and family staying in double or family rooms. It was clean and adequate but not special. Breakfast buffet bacon and eggs first morning was not hot but there are freshly cooked alternatives. Evening menu was limited and not great although the hotel seemed half empty so I think the main restaurant was not open. Staff were generally very pleasant and helpful although one waitress spilled milk on my table said sorry but made no attempt to clear it up. Small things that leave an impression. Overall a nice historic hotel and very convenient location let down by small issues. "

"This property has the potential for 5 stars, great location, modern townhouse. However I could only give 3 stars because of the little things that make a vrbo feel like home. There was no toilet paper in the main bathroom and end of rolls in the others. No dish cloths (although they want dishes washed) no oven mitts, no books, magazines, brochures etc. The link to the ‘house manual’ that was sent in an email did not work. After messaging a couple of times this was not resolved. The ‘smart’ thermostat displayed a message that it was not connected so we could not adjust the temperature at all. Even with a phone call from the rental management this was not resolved."

"Cathill cottage was just perfect for a winter break. This property was furnished to an exceptional standard with everything we needed even to cook a Christmas dinner. No detail too small and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our hosts thought of everything even wonderful welcome hamper and a doggie hamper also. Towels for the hot tub and others for the dog nothing was too much trouble and there as we walked in. The location was lovely and just next to the canal was great for an afternoon stroll and teaming with bird life - we even saw a Kingfisher on our last day which made my Christmas. We cant wait to come back again."

"Terrible property - due to stay here for 5 nights but posed such a health risk that we left immediately and checked in elsewhere at great expense. Sacks of rubbish left, outdoor dining area unusable, dangerous shower, bedroom fans covered in thick dust and mould. Is not as described - is a mid terraced property, not semi-detached as the pictures suggest. Neighbours garden full of trade waste and arguing with each other so would have been unpleasant to sit outside. Undesirable area. Do not stay here. They wouldn’t be able to rent it as it is let alone it be a pleasant holiday house."
