Horribly traumatic experience! Initially they were pleasant and the room was beautiful. We were given an emergency number for the front office and the gentlemen in the front said he was our rm. neighbor. At about 2330 we heard knock at door. A man stated he was a guest and needed to use our phone. I said I did not feel comfortable opening the door, he continued knocking and stating that "you NEED to open the door!" I said I would attempt to call front desk. He continued to tap at the door. The man was adamant we opened the door. The door had no extra lock, no chain, and no peephole. Worst part was no phone available in the room. With our cell, we called the number provided and Venice's emergency number but no answer. The man continued to knock, talk to someone in another language, then knock again. My daughter was terrified crying and asking if we were in danger. I opened the window, saw a group of women, explained everything and asked for her to call help. She called the number for desk and they immediately answered telling her we were fine that she could leave. Still not answering us though. The women left and it was silent in hall. We feared they'd come back so we ran out with bottles as weapons. Roamed Venice for 2 hours (at night with a 9 year old)until we found a room. Next day the man at desk said he entered our rm at 0500 to close window and turn light off. He said he took care problem THEN said it was our imagination. Offered refund if no bad review. We refused!
