Casa Ambrosia: Unique Adobe Home with Mountain Views in a Beautiful River Valley

8/10 Good
"This is a special property. Its location is very serene and quiet and lovely. It’s only 20 minutes from Ojo Caliente Hot Springs and a lovely hour-long drive to Taos. Our crew enjoyed exploring the area and then retreating to the Casa! The beds were comfortable, the shower was also good. As mentioned in other reviews, the kitchen is well-stocked with equipment for making meals. I recommend getting to the property before dark. It isn’t a difficult drive, but it’s out in the country and the signage is there and subtle . The host provides excellent instructions and..get there before dark! She also warned us the card lock pad is touchy and it did take several tries every time, but it worked! The road to the property isn’t ideal for cars without good clearance. We had a truck and were glad we did. Compact cars, vans etc are probably fine, but not low to the ground sports cars The sun room is lovely and we spent a lot of time in there. It would be great if the screen doors were fully functional - we would’ve loved to have had even more fresh air circulating through the home. The Casa was clean and inviting. We hope to stay here again! Thank you!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Vallecitos?
The best time to visit Vallecitos is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather conditions, making it ideal for outdoor activities without the extreme temperatures of summer or the chill of winter.

Spring in Vallecitos sees average daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with nights being cooler. The landscape transforms with blooming wildflowers, and the rivers and streams are often at their fullest due to snowmelt, which is great for fishing and scenic walks. This season is particularly appealing for couples looking for a picturesque and tranquil escape, as the trails are less crowded and the natural beauty is at its peak.

Autumn provides a different but equally stunning experience, with temperatures similar to spring, typically between 12°C and 22°C. The aspen and cottonwood trees turn brilliant shades of gold and red, creating a spectacular backdrop for hiking and photography. Solo travellers often find this season superb for reflective walks and enjoying the crisp, clear air.
