Good value, good location, friendly staff.
I spent 5 days in Ubud around New Year and had a lovely time ar Gusti's bungalows. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was simple and delicious - fresh fruit and banana pancakes with honey + tea/coffee. My room was comfortable and clean with beautiful view. The location is perfect just 10 minutes from shops and restaurants.
d the traditional Balinese compound architecture and gardens sloping down into the jungle ravine... quiet but short walking distance to town. Nice people doing their traditional Balinese activities etc
Bed bugs everywhere, very dirty kitchen near swimming pool, they don't clean the room. I stayed for 7 nights and they cleaned it once only. I will never come back to this hotel

Convenient and cheap guesthouse
Bare bones guesthouse set in a lovely garden. Towels and linens were not replaced in our entire stay (4 nights), nor was the room cleaned. Cleaning staff restricted themselves to a cursory sweep and wipe down of the visible area of the small deck. Area behind the chairs was not touched or cleared of insects. There's a small pool which is refreshing in the heat. Breakfast was okay - small fruit plate and choice of banana pancake, jaffle or toast. Bring your own coffee creamer. Close to good shopping and interesting neighborhood. Close to walks in the rice fields. For the price, you get what you pay for. We would not likely stay there again, just too many bugs.
Quiet place very well located close to all amenities in Ubud. The staff is very kind and polite, always willing to help. The room was very basic, not too clean, very humid and with some leaks that are not nice when there is a night storm. Breakfast was ok.
If this were the only guesthouse in Ubud, I'd say stay here. Because it's clearly not and because you have so much choice, stay elsewhere!
Generally speaking, the staff couldn't care less if you are there or not (no one says hello or smiles) and the facilities are questionable (toilets back up, showers have lukewarm water, there are rats/cats in the ceilings, rooms may or may not have been "cleaned" before your arrival, linens are stained, pool is tiny and there are only two lounge chairs, breakfast dishes are filthy, breakfast servers don't smile and seem to hate their jobs, etc.
As for a facility, this is definitely a GARDEN bunglow (lots of trees, plants, greenery, and ponds). It is beautiful and serene BUT, again, I would never stay here again, as I didn't feel welcomed or cared for at all.
P.S.: All rooms are padlocked, so don't expect any sort of maid service for the duration of your stay. For me, this was 4 days.
Upon arrival at Gusti Bungalows 1 (where we'd book through Expedia in the morning of the day of our arrival in Ubud), we were told by Alex (the Gusti "PR guy") they were full due to our "late" booking and so they put us up at Gusti Bungalows 2. We went back a couple of days later to see if we could spend our last night in Ubud there, and Alex made it happen.
Gusti 1: pretty much as advertised, exceptional surroundings, pool ok though very small. Only slightly negative point was that it was busier /noisier (with guests) than Gusti 2.
Gusti 2: quite different experience, much quieter, exceptional views also, albeit of a different kind: the place is right next to the rice terraces (fantastic view) and is also quite green. "Pool" is even smaller and located in a spot without sun and next to the bar/kitchen/family area. Would be ok for a quick dip after a day of walking. The trail that leads there goes up further into the rices terraces and to a nearby dipable river (if you can find it; hint: there's a sign hanging above the trail:-) ).
Breakie at both places basic but ok. Gusti 2 a bit further away from main street but still totally walkable.
Alex goes out of his way to make sure guests are happy.
Conclusion: stay 2 nights at Gusti 1, and 1 or 2 nights at Gusti 2. Then bail from Ubud cuz it's actually quite limited in interesting stuff to do and absolutely swarming with touts and their baits: glistening tourists...
Lovely budget accommodation with a nice pool, and included breakfast. The room was basic, but clean. The staff were very helpful and booked us tours at very good prices. The bungalows are walking distance to the centre of Ubud (2min walk to main street).

Friendly obliging staff, average accommodation
The room was fairly average compared to some of the other accommodation I stayed in for similar or less price, but the staff were very friendly and the surroundings pretty.

The rooms were very damp and not clean at all. It was overpriced for what it was. It looks nice when you get to the guesthouse but very soon you discover that's it's not well kept. The towel in the room was filthy and the bedding always felt wet from the damp.
We stated strong Gusti's Garden for three nights. A beautiful location, filled with gardens, fish ponds, statues, a pool, and ceremonial temples. Just lovely to sit on the porch and read.
The room gas a fan but no air con, which is fine at night but a bit hot and sticky during the day. Due to the humidity, up feels like nothing dries there.
If you get a bungalow near the bottom of the property, the wifi signal doesnt extend down there.
nice experience. was pleasantly surprised at how nice and beautiful the surroundings were. didnt expect it from a budget hotel.... Didn't try their restaurant, but their breakfast is not much to write about. Friendly staff.
Hitta larver och bedbugs i sängarna. När vi ville checka ut över personalen otrevliga och mycket ohjälpsamma. Dr går ingen taxi i ubud efter 21.
Toan var äcklig.
Nära till centrum.
