"The room was spotlessly clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. They also served us freshly cooked breakfast in the morning, which was lovely. The bathroom was large, clean and modern, but the room itself was very small for 2 people. On Sunday night, we planned to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. However, the hotel management decided to close the restaurant without any prior notification. The reception was also closed, which was very odd and we had to go back out into town to get some dinner."

"We had a wonderful stay in this lovely cottage. Machynlleth is a vibrant market town with many independent shops and pubs/restaurants all within easy walking distance from the cottage and also a good base for visiting the many tourist attractions in the area."

"Great holiday cottage in a fantastic location - within easy driving distance of nice beaches and mountain walks. The resort has a indoor swimming pool which required booking into a slot during peak stays (school holidays). The site also has a free mini golf course (clubs and balls provided). The cottage cooking equipment could have been better (tin opener was not fit for purpose and cooking knives were blunt). Beds were comfortable. Resort was well tended and tidy. The Indian restaurant on the resort had fabulous Indian food (so delicious we went twice) but the decor is a little shabby - don't this put you off as the food is amazing.I would go back"

Affording magnificent views of the Snowdonia National Park, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) has for nearly half a century now occupied a seven-acre site in a former slate quarry close to Machynlleth. Easily reached by car or bus, and naturally offering free charging for electric vehicles, a visit here may be among the most rewarding and inspiring you could hope to take in Wales. Note also that the name is a little misleading now, as the centre has switched from focusing purely on alternative technologies to all forms of sustainable living.
