I stayed at Quinta de São Luís (Vine House) and I have to say, this was hands down the highlight of my entire trip to Portugal. I’ve traveled quite a bit, but I had never seen anything this beautiful. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. My room was stunning — incredibly spacious with a huge balcony overlooking the most breathtaking views. The bed was so comfortable, and I loved the thoughtful touches like the complimentary little bottles of wine in the room. The service was exceptional. Ana, in particular, went above and beyond to make my stay special. She personally recommended a nearby vineyard where I had an unforgettable lunch — the food was absolutely delicious. I also had the chance to do a wine tasting tour, which was such a fun and memorable experience. The wines were fantastic! This place truly feels like a 5-star experience in every way. If I could give it more than five stars, I absolutely would. My only regret is that I stayed just one night — I wish I had planned to stay longer during my nine days in Portugal. I’m already dreaming about coming back. If you’re looking for a place that combines luxury, stunning scenery, incredible wine, and outstanding service, look no further. Quinta de São Luís is pure magic.

This is a beautiful property right on the Douro river. The rooms are very modern and clean and have balconies that overlook the river and vineyards. The staff is so good and want to help anyway they can. We are finding that helpfulness is a Portuguese trait, they are born that way. There is free parking, free EV Charging, a free tour of the wine process and free treats. The location is great for exploring the Douro valley. I recommend visiting Regua and if you are a good driver take a ride up the the view point of Saint Antonio.

Our stay at The Vine House was memorable and truly special — especially as the first guests to book through Expedia! The accommodations were spotless, peaceful, and well-appointed, with a view that needs to be properly experienced again on a clearer day — we’ll definitely be back for that full balcony moment. It’s important to note that the lodging/tasting experience is managed separately from the food service, which is helpful to know when booking. A small hiccup at dinner was handled with grace and professionalism — special thanks to Marco and Ana for their attentiveness and commitment to making things right. We left feeling very satisfied with their response. The wine tasting experience is an absolute must, with beautiful grounds, knowledgeable staff, and a sense of Douro charm that made the visit unforgettable. This was our first time in the region, and The Vine House set the bar incredibly high. Highly recommend for couples, wine lovers, and anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in one of the most scenic parts of Portugal.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Quinta de Sao Luiz !! La chambre était impeccable avec une vue à couper le souffle sur le Douro et les vignes !! Le personnel a été très aidant, capable de nous répondre en français ! La visite guidée du vignoble avec la dégustation est très appréciée, notre guide étant très compétent Bref je recommande fortement le Domaine Sao Luiz pour un séjour mémorable dans l'extraordinaire vallée du Douro! Une destination à ne pas manquée lors de votre séjour au Portugual !!

A experiência foi um tanto decepcionante, pois não conseguimos aproveitar a estadia na pousada porque ela não oferece estrutura para tal. O quarto é bastante confortável, a vista do Douro é linda, mas o restaurante do hotel é inacessível e não tem o que oferecer. Estava fechado e ficamos sem opção a não ser voltar para régua para jantar e tomar um vinho (distância de 30 minutos)! Os funcionários não são simpáticos e não fizeram questão de deixar nossa estadia melhor.
