"The cabin was just perfect for the 2 of us and our dog, and the location in Custer State Park was just what we were looking for, in a weekend visit. The hiking trail on the property was a great surprise and the view was spectacular. Deb, our host, was so friendly and accommodating. We had a great time exploring the black hills, including the Custer Wildlife Trail and the Needles Highway. "

"We had the best time. My only complaint would be the place sleeps 16 but does not house 16 well. There were only 9 coffee cups the table only seats 8 the living areas do not fit more than 8 with out having to sit on the floor. The hot tub only seats 5. The place was cute, and clean. The beds were comfortable."

"Great location in The Black Hills. Easy to come and go to various activities. The owner was quick and easy to communicate with. The kids (7, 9, 11) had a grand time exploring the property and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. I REALLY appreciated having the basics - coffee filters, tissues, foil, salt/pepper, oil. Thanks much!!!"

"The house was very clean and the rooms were well appointed. There were ample towels. The hot tub and sauna were great. The Wi-Fi was subpar. I would recommend to the host that they put a booster in the unit. If you want to get away from everything, this is an ideal place to disconnect. If you need to work remotely, the Wi-Fi does not stay on and it’s very spotty. You can stream a movie, but you can’t watch anything live on television. Also make sure that you bring extra toiletries with you and the kitchen is not well stocked if you are a chef. "

"The Pondside Lodge was a splendid place to stay for our trip to South Dakota! The lodge is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The living room picture window looks out over the pond and the Needles are clearly visible in the distance. It is a very relaxing location - quiet and lovely. We saw turkeys and deer every day going to and from the lodge. The lodge is a short drive to the Custer Wildlife Loop (spectacular!), the Needles Highway (amazing!), and Sylvan Lake (stunning!). Custer, just a few miles up the road, offers many delicious options for dinner, and the kitchen in the lodge is well-equipped if you want to eat in. I recommend the Pondside Lodge wholeheartedly for a restful vacation!"

"We loved this house! The cleanliness, the kitchen, the view, the firepit area, the comfy beds, the location, the communication--all were excellent! This is one of those VRBO's where you really enjoy coming back "home" at the end of an adventure. The garage was open, and we used the space to store our gear. One caveat--the downstairs is much cooler than the upstairs, and the stairs to the basement are steep (which is mentioned in the description). A small negative in a very large ocean of positives. We would absolutely rebook The Brown House if we returned to South Dakota! "
