The best area to stay in St. Thomas is Charlotte Amalie, as it offers the most comprehensive experience for visitors.

Charlotte Amalie is the capital and largest city in St. Thomas, situated on the island's southern coast. This historic port city is known for its Danish historic architecture, with red-roofed buildings located into the hillsides. The main thoroughfare, Main Street (Dronningens Gade), is a hub for duty-free shopping, while the waterfront promenade offers views of the harbour. It's a highly walkable area with many restaurants and attractions within easy reach.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, staying in Charlotte Amalie provides easy access to historic sites like Fort Christian and the 99 Steps, as well as a wide selection of fine dining establishments. You're also well-placed for boat excursions departing from the harbour.

Families often find Charlotte Amalie a convenient base. The proximity to popular attractions like Coral World Ocean Park (a short drive away) and the ability to easily access ferries to St. John make it practical.

The best time to go to St Thomas is during the dry season, which runs from December to June, offering consistently pleasant weather for all activities.

This period avoids the higher humidity and increased chance of rain that characterise the summer and early autumn. You'll find warm temperatures, typically in the high 20s Celsius, and gentle breezes, great for enjoying the island's beaches and outdoor attractions.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the stable weather conditions, ideal for sunset cruises, dining al fresco, and exploring the island's natural beauty without interruption. The sea is calm and clear, making it great for snorkelling and diving.

Families travelling with children will also find this time of year excellent.
