Good location and beds, sufficient breakfast but the staff could be more hospitable

This is not a luxury hotel. It has all the shortcomings of an old building. For example, there are ants crawling over the kitchen counter, and I once saw a gecko. As you shower, you will stand ankle deep in your shower water because of poor drainage. I choose this hotel because I thought I would have a beautiful view of the Singapore River, as suggested by the photo. But my view of the river was a mile away, and the river was bookmarked by tall buildings. So I really saw a small piece of the river between tall buildings. This is not the view in the photo. The good things I have to write are the staff is very friendly, and they have a good fire alarm system that will make you feel safe. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel because at this price point, there are better hotels.

I enjoyed staying at carlton even though the room was not the one I expected overall the stayed was up to my expectation. I am recommended for any one to stay here if they are in Singapore. Thanks to bell man department for the excellent service.
