The best area to stay in Soren is the Old Town (Altstadt) due to its central location and historic character.

This area is Soren's historic heart, characterised by its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and direct access to the Soren Fjord. The main square, Marktplatz, is a central point, often hosting local markets, and you'll find a good selection of independent shops and restaurants along Holstenstrasse, the main pedestrian thoroughfare. It's very walkable and offers a pleasant experience.

Couples will find the Old Town particularly appealing. Its historic charm, proximity to the fjord for strolls, and numerous cosy eateries make it ideal for a romantic getaway. You're also just a short walk from the Soren Castle, a significant landmark with beautiful gardens.

For those travelling with family, the area around the City Park (Stadtpark) offers a good balance. While still close to the Old Town, it provides more open green spaces for children to play and is generally a quieter residential area.

The best time to visit Soren is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

During May and June, Soren experiences mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, with longer daylight hours. This makes it ideal for exploring the city's outdoor attractions and enjoying boat trips on the Soren Fjord without the peak summer crowds. The gardens and parks are in full bloom, adding to the city's appeal.

September and October offer similar comfortable temperatures, usually between 10°C and 18°C, and the autumn foliage provides a beautiful backdrop for walks along the waterfront or through the old town.
