"Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation. "

"My spouse and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Izukyu! I'm already planning to come back later in the summer. My Japanese is limited so we really appreciated the staff doing their best to explain policies in English. We stayed in a Japanese style room, it was huge and had everything we needed and more - and the view of the ocean was fantastic! We also took advantage of the private onsen, highly recommend. "Great place to stay. Hotel is in a secluded spot with great views and facilities. Sitting down in the onsen bath overlooking the ocean after a hard day travelling.
