"Room was big with decent beds, but it was old, poorly maintained. Lights by bed didnt work, main light was dim, window only ope ns a couple of inches, bathroom and toilet dirty, bath tub is high up from the floor and hard to step out of if you are short. Chairs were dirty too. The lady at check in was nice but all the other staff seemed disinterested in helping us or making us feel valued. One completely ignored me when i said hello and went up to the desk to ask a question. I asked about staying another night due to a change of plans and wanting to stay near the train station - i was quoted almost double the price i was already paying for the same room, i asked about a possible late check out and was abruptly shot down with a no. They didnt even look to try and accommodate the request. In the end we moved to another hotel close by for the rest of our stay. The only good things were the size of the room, the location right next to the abbey and bus/train station and the free coffee/tea/milk/biscuits in the room"

"Both the evening meal and breakfast were only just warm which was disappointing. Room 1 was a good size but would have preferred a shower enclosure rather than a shower over the bath. Overall our stay served its purpose as an overnight stay en route to our destination, it was adequate but no more."

"Great communication as a self check in with a lock box, plenty of private parking next to the accommodation. Carlton Towers has a tea room within walking distance which was convenient. Room was big with everything we needed for 2 nights. Would recommend and stay again if back in the area."

"Room was clean, but hardly any storage or hanging space. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Room very nojsy at night with passing traffic. Buffet style breakfast, but no hot food. Not enough bowls for cereal, or cups for brews. Okay for a weekend away, but any longer you'll be struggling to keep your clothes tidy."

"Becca and Tony made us feel very welcome, both before arrival and during our stay. The lodge was very comfortable and well equipped. Some of the automatic, sensor lights seemed to take a bit of working out with some switches not in an obvious place.Tip: Take or buy a rubber mat for the shower rooms, especially if mobility is an issue.Very quiet and dark at night."
