the people that keep the hotel clean do a great job. The front desk lacks care in bringing comfort and security to the hotel guest.I requested an extra blanket to place on top of my mattress the answer was an immediate NO response. I paid for 11 days, in advance, I got maybe 2 days of sleep. The mattress was 2 in. thick. I also lost my key to the lock for my locker that is provided in the room that I keep my diabetes medicines. The front desk does not have tools to break the lock so I called the fire dept. and they were quick to respond. Another Night someone destroyed the lounge area and smashed the TV with broken glass and broken security camera left lying on floor and furniture till the morning. The hotel has a number of tenant's that have been staying for several months which turns it into a SRO. They don't stray far from the hotel do to the drug supply in that neighborhood. Booking here was a mistake. This hotel is like a flea market version of a hard rock cafe.
Stayed in the capsule bed option and I'd do it again for the value! Was a little vary at first, but it's just other regular people trying to get by in a cheap way. Room was as expected for the price - can't knock it for giving me what I paid for! Note that all bathrooms are communal but they're all private and locked by deadbolt(/keycard for
The Music City Hotel. This is a great concept & fun place to stay. It is really a hidden gem.
You are the star! Stay here with your crew while you are on tour! This place has alot to offer a traveling entertainer. It is also a fun alternative place to stay than a typical hostel.
There are a few different room options for singles, doubles & separate bunk style dorms for men & women. Plenty of showers. Everything is maintained nicely with daily cleaning service with coffee.
The building offers private studio space for rent & staged performances nightly. It is a music venue downstairs at night with a variety of entertainment. They have a bunch of music classes taught by experts. Live local or stay at the hotel while you take a class. The bar has a food menu and bar specials. The nightly entertainment is free for guests.
We had a great time and met alot of different musicians and travelers during our visit. It is in a great central location to get around the whole city
The music decor was very cool. We stayed in the Metallica room. They had pictures of various San Francisco bands and a brief history about them. The shared bathroom was a different experience but not bad. The check in hostess was amazing and very friendly. There is live music downstairs to enjoy at no extra charge.
Music lover’s heaven. You have to check out all pictures and music. The room itself is clean and comfortable. Great privacy with blackout curtains.

I really liked the place, its idea is very innovative.
My flight was delayed and they helped me with late check-in, which I really appreciated.
The only problem I had was with the card/key. It only worked one day, I had to arrive very late and leave very early and there was no one in reception to help me. I had to ask the kind cleaning ladies to help me open the bathroom and bedroom doors.
I have lived in San Francisco for the past 30 years, and I know the city changes from block to block. The music city hotel is the perfect alternative to stay in the city on and off without paying lots of money. The area is very nice, many good restaurants and pubs. Night life as well, dispensaries and more. Overall, I love this place.
I'm embarrassed to just now be riding a review for this fantastic place.
I've stayed here a great number of times.
The front desk office staff are so friendly and yet professional.
I'm from hospitality and retail experience, so I know very well customer service.
This staff have a natural ability for this customer service. I've seen several times in person them handling numerous situations at one time. They give the term multitasking a new definition.
The housekeeping staff are not only friendly and you're always smiling, but are so thorough and maintaining impeccable cleanliness.
They're fresh fruit coffee and tea are always a comfort treat.
That huge photos of the Bay area music legends are so cool. I grew up with most of these bands, and always enjoy your trip down memory lane when viewing these.
I'm so excited for the new addition downstairs to open.
I can't say enough about these friendly professional cool hip folks.
Oh one more thing. The music that plays over the speakers is so cool.
I have Shazam so much of this music over time that I have a fat library of new material to listen to.
Whenever The pointer sisters OR Sylvester plays, watch out baby cuz I'm going to be dancing.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Not many redeeming qualities otherwise. You’re sharing a bathroom with the entire floor, not just your capsule. That was not clear from the descriptions. I was so surprised I went back to see my reservation to see if I had missed it.
I thought I’d be sharing a bathroom with just my roommates and that we’d have the bathroom inside our room — that is not the case.
Not sure when the carpet was last cleaned but the whole place smells and is incredibly grimy. The cleaning crew work really hard so the beds and bathrooms are clean around check-in time but there’s always a strong chemical cleaner smell on top of the carpet grime and marijuana.
I think this is fine for people who are used to hostel stays and are interested into the indie music scene. I’m probably too old and used to my creature comforts to ever stay here again. Also note there’s no elevator and Polk street it not very luxury city center.
You’re getting what you pay for = a clean bed to sleep in, access to a shower and bathroom, some storage.
If you wanna use the in-room lockers, bring your own lock and key. They don’t give or rent them out. If you have more than one checked bag size luggage, this is probably not a good fit.
The staff was amazing the property was unbelievable. One gentleman on staff younger gentleman didn't want to get rid of spoiled food and asked me to do the trash. Kristen was amazing. Surrounding area needed a little help but other than that the people were very welcoming the staff was very accommodating and musicians were very welcoming. The rooms were clean and the people were very hospitality. I enjoyed my time and would recommend this place to all musician lovers learning about music and culture. Thank you music City San Francisco.
