Good stay at the Rudoplh
The Rudolph was comfortable, warm and clean - it worked exactly was we needed it to and compared to the price of other places it was very good value

Only basic stuff are available in this hotel and it needs to walk across a few streets from the city centre. However, given it is cheaper than other hotels in the city centre, it is still good overall.

Definitely not 2.5 Star rating as advertised by Expedia. More likely a1Star. Room Tiny. Beds more like camp beds. A youth hostel for sure. Bathroom outdated and grimy. Could not bring myself to use shower; it was disgusting.

Dear Pat, Thank you for your review. We regret to hear that Hotel Rudolf did not meet expectations and there were several issues with the room. We apologise for the shortcomings and will check the beds and the bathroom. We have updated the rooms a couple of years ago, and changed all the windows just this month. However, the bathrooms are still in their original state. They are cleaned well after each guest though, so we are sorry that you didn't want to use the shower. We will discuss this matter with our housekeeping, and will pay extra attention to the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Not sure if it wasn't clearly listed or if I just didn't see it, but the check in was a few blocks from Rudolf, as they have a few different buildings. Rooms were small and sound barrier not the best. But clean and very good for the price!

Cheap not so cheerful!
Well it's cheap for area. Check in is in different locations quite a walk. No too bad if like me u find hotel (Rudolf) first & park your car leaving baggage in it but still quite a walk in winter in snow/ice. (Parking near hotel Santa Claus where u check in is limited). Hotel Rudolf is total unmanned. Wifi would not work on first evering so went to use phone in corridor to contact staff (@ check in hotel via internal call) this didn't work either. So as I was going into town where hotel Santa Claus is I popped in, got impression they couldn't care less despite fake smile by front desk staff. This was not fixed till morning of me leaving after 2 nights. Room is cold as windows have constant draft curtains don't fit & heating poor only usable because of standalone electric heater &me moving beds out from window, bathroom/ shower very poor and old desperately need refurbish(rooms had been to some extent refurbished. The whole town is very touristy and set up to rip you off although McDonalds short walk away is good. In essence if you staying in summer or looking for a Hostel style room albeit private bathroom etc then this may suit you: if not then only reason to use is because it's cheap for area but does not justify its cost so if possible I recommend staying in a better maybe more expensive hotel. it was also noisy being no staff to keep check on people oh and lots of threats of charges if u forget your room or front door keys (2 keys) never found a hotel like this before!

The actual hotel building is located a few hundred meters away from the check-in office. It was annoying to carry all the luggage through the slow in the middle of the night

Good hotel, recommended, quiet
We arrived in the Santa's hotel to check in, which is ok, but not comfortable to go to the Rudolf hotel with a lot of lagguage unless you have a car. Otherwise nice, warm, hot water always, quiet place, near the center and the museums. I would say great location.

JUST STAY AT SANTA CLAUS HOTEL INSTEAD
Had to travel/walk to Santa Claus Hotel just to check in. NOT CONVENIENT. I recommend forgetting about this hotel & pay the EXTRA money for Santa Claus Hotel. No One at Rudulf Hotel. What's the Police t of even staying there. Stay somewhere else. Not convenient!

Overpriced hostel with private shower
Be aware that even though the info on Expedia says to check in at a completely different location your actual booking confirmation won't have the information of the alternate place which is especially troubling if you're not traveling with data roaming. I complained about it on the check in survey and the staff proceeded to point out that it is on the information but this is prior to doing the booking. Please note that I'm making a big deal about it because the check in place is not close enough if you're traveling with luggage and walking on ice. That being said, the rooms haven't been renovated in at least 10 years. Faucet, shower and drain are plastic and the tile is dingy. not sure the price is even worth a bed for a few hours which was my first thought. I only stayed for a night and just trying to help other travelers avoid a bad moment.

Complicated Hostel
Pros very quiet not very far.yet reasonably fr3 from hussle bussle cons check in at a differrent place. Could be difficult to shuttle with luggage not even a proper sign board. One could easily confused the building to be Chinese restaurant Railway station is not quite so nearer as it msy seem from the review. IT TOOK ME 20 min of hard walking , pulling luggage on on hard snow At 70 euro I find it to be a bit expensive then i could not not get anything better. I understand Rovamie ni is touristy overall it is a very calm and quiet place

Basic, no frill accommodation
Fit for purpose if your requirements are basic. There is no staff on premise and may be challenging if you need immediate attention (though you can call for help from their main branch located few hundred meters down the road). During our 2 nights stay, they did not make the room. perhaps one need to call the main hotel to request for it. As shared in other reviews, check in is to be done in main branch . If you are traveling in a party especially with young ones during the very cold months, I would recommend that a representative do the check in while the rest and luggage wait at restaurant / cafe besides Rudolf . (Please note that you can't assess Rudolf building without the card keys). Or take a cab. Else It may be challenging pushing heavy luggage from one to the other .

Cheap, well maintained Hotel
We stayed in this hotel for one night in February. It is walking distance from the centre and has everything you would want/ need in the room - even tea and coffee making facilities which other hotels we had stayed in hadn't provided. There are no staff on site at the hotel, instead you have to check in at the Santa Clause Hotel - we weren't told this so it caused a little confusion. The staff were helpful and allowed us to store luggage etc. Due to there not being 'staff' at the hotel, it was very noisy in the evening. We got back at bout 11.30pm and groups of young people were having some sort of party above us. If we hadn't been so tired, we would have found sleeping difficult. We had to be up in the early hours for the airport so there was no point in really complaining. Overall - cheap, well maintained hotel. If you are on a budget or just want a night somewhere, this might be your place!

You have to register in central Rovaniemi then walk about ten to twelve blocks away on icy and snowy sidewalk. There is no staff at the location, so if you wants some help it is not there.

This is a no one services building, you have to get your key at Santa Claus hotel which is 20 mins away, but in winter with snow and luggage, it took me more than 30 mins of the walk. The area is quite and the room is clean.

Santas Hotel Rudolf
Arrived but was not a hotel. Even sign at front door said hostel. Entrance was dull and dank. Rang bell my times and it wasn't answered for about 15 munites. Turned out I did not read booking in procedures, didn't have access to wifi til I booked in, and reception was 1 km down town. I was put off by the outside appearance and mis representation that I did not stay. And it certainly was not what I wanted in a hotel

Best for Students' Budget
I am aware of the practice in Finland for checking in and get the key somewhere, and the hotel is somewhere else. Don't get annoyed with it. You need to walk for about 600m between check in and the hostel. It is very good for value, rooms facing the street have to deal with very bright street lights, but the rest is excellent. The free wifi works well. I hope there's an access to the rooftop to see the Aurora :-) . And this hostel is only few hundred meters away from Arktrium, the main reason I came to Rovaniemi this time.

Very cheap deal
The hostel is comfortable. The only small problem is the check-in at the Santa Klaus hotel, located 15 min walking from there. The rest was pefect.

The hotel is very nice except distance
The hotel is very nice its own. But the check in place is not the place where hostel locate. After check in , you have to take your luggage in the snow from the check in place to the hostel you stay and it's a very bad experience as google map show you walk only 9 minutes but actually with the heavy luggage and snow , you have to walk at least 30 mins to get there. But except this, the facilities is good. No slipperies and hair washing lotion.

Would avoid this one next time.
We were disappointed with this one. Granted it's only a hostel but checking in 800m away, where the transfer bus dropped us, and then dragging two kids and our suitcases 800m through the ice and snow in -14C is not awesome, although we knew this ahead and so accepted this. When we got to our room there was an unbearable stench from the bathroom so we had no choice but to open the windows (-14C outside!), I called the hotel reception who said they would get the cleaners back 'if they are still around' but no one came, I called again and emailed the reception twice and they just didn't even bother responding, so we slept with Windows partly open to the icy cold, shut the bathroom with the light on so the exhaust would work and held our breath when we used the bathroom.

One night stay is fine
The staff helped us to check in was helpful and nice, she helped us to find the way to the hostel because it is not same as the place we checked in. The room is okay, towel and beddings were there, toilet is clean, but noisy, we could hear people talking in the room beside.

For loners only
As I was alone and that I didn't want to spend a fortune for a one-night stay, this hostel was really perfect for me, even if I had to bring my own wake-up radio. I would never stay there with friends. So I really strongly recommend it if you're alone with a low budget. Nice place to stay in these conditions.
