"We were a party of 3 and our stay here was enjoyable and comfortable. Adelina is a welcoming and great host. The studio is not far from Honokaa town center. The town itself is quaint with a couple of good cafes and a few good restaurants. The studio is very close to Waipio Valley.It's centrally located, Waimea is 30 minutes. Beaches in Waikoloa and Waikoloa is 45 minutes. Hilo is 50 minutes.I will certainly stay there again."

"Save your money on the included breakfast. It’s a very limited menu from their little coffee shop that’s supposedly available until 10.00am. Good luck with that as by 8 o’clock most of the items are sold out. The wait for check-in was almost an hour, even though there were very few people. But that’s just it - super limited staff. We had to wait in line every day, as a concierge wouldn’t help you once they realized you won’t buy any packages from them and send you to the front desk. The concierge could you care less to help you with questions, the front desk staff was always super helpful and friendly, but unfortunately, usually there was only one person working. The canal boats never ran, and the tram didn’t either half of the time or did not go all the way to the end. Overall, it was somewhat disappointing. This was my second time here and they have definitely declined. "

"It’s a very nice place. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. A resort hotel should be 100% operational. The boats don’t work anymore. The tram only serves two sections of the hotel. The food options are limited and of low quality for the cost. A $50 plate of pasta should never arrive at a table cold. Lunch and dinner options are limited. Paying the price for a meal here should be remembered as amazing, not blah, blah, blah. The breakfast buffet is overpriced. The Luau was a great show, the food was pretty good. Standing in line in the heat for 45 minutes is ridiculous. Elderly people need places to sit in the line. Put some benches along the walkway. The lagoon was amazing. The prices for using water toys is ridiculous. Majority sat unused due to the high cost. Management were very attentive. Carter was especially helpful to address any concerns raised. The staff were very friendly and respectful. "

"Kohala Lodge is not just a place to stay, it is a destination. If you visit the Big Island, it is one of the bucket-list experiences you must have. Scenic, tranquil, magical all come to mind. Sit on the expansive front porch and contemplate that you are on an island in the Pacific with a view of Maui in the distance. Feed the animals with pellets provided by the owner. When the breeze gets quite cool, you can build a fire in the stone fireplace with wood provided by the owner. I did not cook, so I cannot comment on that experience. Instead, the charming little town of Havi is easy to access with excellent fare at the Kohala market. For the adventurous, there is sky-diving nearby, or just feed your soul relaxing at the lodge."
