This central area offers a delightful blend of peaceful village life and convenient access to local amenities. The Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, runs directly through Poilhes, offering picturesque walks and boat trips. You'll find charming stone houses, local shops, and a few restaurants clustered around the church and the canal. Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the village centre ideal. For families, staying in the village centre provides a comfortable base for exploring. Children can enjoy watching the boats on the canal, and the nearby countryside offers opportunities for cycling and walking.

The best time to visit Poilhes is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring the region.

The countryside is lush and green, and the local markets are well-stocked with fresh produce. Early autumn also brings lovely weather, with comfortable temperatures and fewer tourists. The grape harvest season, known as vendanges, is in full swing, offering a unique opportunity to experience local traditions and taste fresh wines.
