"Hotel is currently undergoing remodeling (as it was last fall) and it’s probably 5 years overdue. Furniture in lobby/breakfast areas as well as in our room in pretty bad shape (upholstery worn out). Bed pillows way too thin. Staff pleasant and breakfast offerings were good. Location convenient to our friends’ home in Mattawan."

"I’ve never been to a hotel where you can’t check in after a certain time. Normal hours from my experience is checkin after 3pm checkout is 11am period. I arrived at the hotel a little after 1am and was told there was no staff and I could not checkin and I was on my own to find lodging for the night, even though I reserved and paid for the room(thanks Hotels.com) luckily a mile down the road was another hotel, the night clerk smiled when I explained the situation and replied “ this happens all the time” I will never attempt to stay at the hotel again. Hotels.com you owe me at least 2 free nights at a hotel of my choice and the rewards that I used to on the room. Let’s make it right"

"Unfortunately, this place is a dump. It's run down and needs a lot of renovation and upgrades. Duncan at the front desk was nice and he tried to help by giving me an upgrade. The bad part is that if this was an upgrade, then I would hate to see the regular room. The room was "clean", but still felt dirty. The floor felt like it had been mopped with a dirty mop. My socks got dirty from walking on the floor. In the bathroom, there was no rod for the toiletpaper, so it was just sitting on the back of the toilet. There was no stopper for the bathtub, so you couldn't take a bath unless you jammed a wash cloth or something down the drain. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall, so I don't know if it even worked. The ac/heat unit didn't work very well. The vent was caked in dust/lent and the slats were broken out. The bedspread had holes in it that had been cut out and burned with a cigarrette (even though this was a non-smoking room), and of course stains. The curtains also had holes in them and you could see light coming in through the holes. They provided a coffee maker that made one cup at a time, but no cups to make coffee in. There were only plastic cups that would have melted with hot coffee in them. The hotel wqasn't exactly cheap either. I think they raised their prices (but not the quality) because there was a marathon (which is why I was there) in town and some locals told me there was a big soccer tournament in town that weekend too. "Not sure what was going on with this location. I spent three nights here. The last 24 hours was unbreathable. The entire place smelled like a sewer. Especially the fifth floor, where my room was. The staff was not even concerned. So we took for granite. This was a regular thing. Very nice location just not happy about the smell of the place."
