This is a lovely little hotel in the midst of downtown Newcastle. We were staying here because of my sister’s 50th birthday party. Great location, clean and comfortable and very friendly staff.
The hotel was right in the thick of things, but wasnt noisy or too bright. The room was clean, the staff were nice and helpful. There were lots of places to eat around and many things to do.
Clean and large room. Good size bathroom and kitchenette. Although overlooking pubs beer garden, we couldn’t hear the crowd. Great location. Pub below has great craft beer selections. We’ll be back.
Perfect location, clean property/refurbished, great value if your going for a night out in Newcastle as long as you don't plan on getting into bed until about 1am as there is live music etc downstairs which we enjoyed during pre-dinner drinks on our balcony there.......I would definitely stay again if I was having a night out in Newcastle. If you did want a quieter room then request to be on the street side of the hotel away from the back of the building where music is playing.
Very good central location. Food, bar and outdoor garden area good. Checkin and staff helpful and friendly. Lighting in room poor and bed squeaked terribly
We liked the nice room, the excellent service of the staff and the food in the area was good also. The convenient close, flat walk to the Town Hall was fabulous.
We did not like the loud music nearly all night in room 110.
We will be going to the Ukulele Festival next year and would like a room on the other side of the hotel away from the music.
We are both over 80 we will book in the new year.
Room and especially bathroom was dirty.
Hair in the shower, sticky carpet in the room and utensils that felt grubby. Thank goodness we only had one night there - it was one night too many.
The room we were in had the loud noise of the airconditioners from the round building next door. The security/floodlights on all night which shone into our room.
Otherwise everything else was OK except that it didnt allow for a good nights sleep
Quiet, good beds including the sofa bed. Run down and needs updating badly. Public areas shabby and unpleasant. No fan in bathroom. Nowhere to place your soap in shower as dish is broken. No rubbish bin in the bathroom. Three teabags for three adults is very mean. Hot water takes forever to come through and is unreliable as suddenly becomes scalding then goes back to reasonable level of heat.
Great option for central Newcastle accommodation. Although the building was aged, our room was clearly renovated to 21st century standard. It was surprisingly roomy which was great, and we opted for a balcony which was nice to view some of the nightlife from haha! Despite arriving on a lively Friday night, noise was not an issue. The bathroom was not the most stylish but it was clean and that’s the important thing. Being centrally located means walkable access to the restaurants and cafes around the area; always a good thing in my book 😀

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Good location
The location is great, 30sec from the light rail, 2min from the waterfront, Near shops and transportation. The reception staff was really great and friendly. They also called the day before to let us know how what to expect. The downside of this place is the noise if you happen to be on the side of the beer garden. There were live band from 2pm on sat to 9pm, it was noisy but really great music. We sat outside to enjoy it but it depends on your needs. The cleaning needs a bit more improvement as we stayed 2 days and used up some tea and tissue from day 1 and were not replaced. There were also nothing we could use for washing our dishes except a tea towel.
Great sized room & bathroom (with a full length mirror which I appreciate).
The staff were very helpful & friendly.
Great price, right in the heart of Newcastle.
