"Fujisan was great. Our car couldn’t make it to the inn. Fuji came down the hill in a snowstorm to pick us up, he called ahead to make sure the local restaurant stayed open for us as well. Breakfasts were excellent, the rooms were large by ryokan standards and very clean. The Hanabun is a vintage gem tucked deep in the Myoko Mountains. "

"For my overnight trip to Nagano, my focus had always been to visit Togakushi Shrine for the giant cedar trees and Jigokudani Yaen Koen for the snow monkeys. This meant that I had to find lodging that was within a reasonable drive from both locations as one was west of Nagano and the other east. "Staff lovely. Minimal english. Fantastic breakfast - book on ipad at restaurant the night before and print ticket. Candy and drinks included in evening. Hot spring was lovely. Shuttle bus fills early. "
