"Our high expectations for this place, following the widely reported £20m refurb in 2023, were dashed sadly. No room in the customer car park on arrival. Offered a complimentary rum punch that had never had a sniff of the rum bottle. Annex room was small & unremarkable. Room condition was fine except that both bedside lights needed new bulbs, the hairdryer was missing and there were hairs on the shower wall. Eugh. Contacting reception to rectify these issues was not straightforward.

"The hotel is in a Victorian commercial hotel and is very nicely decorated. The staff are amazing and very helpful. Any problems we had were quickly and politely dealt with. We chose to eat in the hotel on a Saturday evening and we all enjoyed our choices. We were leaving early on Sunday and so could not sample breakfast. Our accommodation block was behind the main building and very quiet with secured parking. Parking is charged as an extra but is reasonable. We would certainly stay again and...
