"Lovely hotel, massive room, excellent friendly staff, the only slight downfall was every time someone was walking along the corridor upstairs it sounded like a herd of elephants was about to come through the ceiling but it wouldn't stop me stating again."

"An extraordinary place. Outstandingly beautiful position under Barf Fell, and with further beautiful walk ( less than ten minutes) down to the shores of Bassenthwaite lake. This bnb is a place of balm to the soul! Your wonderful hostess has made a habit of rescuing chickens; (fresh eggs on the table every morning), dogs; and restoring the crockery decorating this charming, characterful house which goes back many centuries. Sitting at your window seat overlooking the glorious garden and on to the lake, and eating the baking provided daily, you may want to stay forever. Less than ten minutes into Keswick, though. And a hostess who will respect your privacy, but is also superbly warm. My second visit, and I will be back."
A homely lodge in a tranquil setting with lake view

"Allison was extremely attentive and quick to respond to questions as they came up. We did not receive our full check in instructions until 48 hours prior to arrival. We- were confused about the location of this unit as we didn't realize that Watendlath was the name of their cottage. reception was closed on sunday and we needed wifi to access the final instructions from Allison- we flagged down a neighbor who helped us. It was quite stressful after an overnight flight from the US and driving right from the Manchester airport. Once we were in- we were happy ! The kitchen is very well equipped- we cooked most of our meals there- the location can't be beat- just beautiful. We were there midweek and it was quiet and surrounding traffic was manageable. We would stay there again and recommend to friends."
Cottage on the Farm

"This was our second trip to Cottage in the Garden and it met our requirements just as before. We were attending the Keswick Convention and needed somewhere to stay within striking distance but not in the town. We love this place because it's right up in the fells and there are lots of lovely walks and climbs we can take direct from the house. The garden is great too and we ate out most evenings (weather unusually kind) enjoying the lovely views and sunsets. There are several quirky aspects to the property which are all due to its ancient origins but these add to the charm and we find the place functions well. The bed is comfortable, the shower has good pressure, the kitchen is moderately well stocked, the washing machine is slightly temperamental but works. The sitting room is comfortable and cosy."

"This was a real jewel to come across. Lovely location; plenty of parking; warm welcome and generally friendly & helpful staff; good quality menu; spacious & comfortable room. A little pricier than I would normally pay but good value for money. I would certainly stay here again."

"The lodge was really lovely and very well equipped. Very comfortable beds. Only disappointment was not being able to use the washer as the kids were in lake every day and really needed to use it. I know there was one on site but it was just bit of a hassle. Other than that it was lovely and would definitely be visiting again."

"Booked this lodge last minute as we wanted to catch the heatwave. Absolute perfect location. We have been to the lakes several times but never bassenthwaite. Brought the paddle boards and literally a 30 seconds walk to the water. So quiet, stunning views, just perfect. Short drive into keswick too. The Lodge is really modern and was clean and well presented. Had everything you needed for a comfortable break away. In fact the only negative thing we could say is that we had to come home! Will be looking to book again soon!!"

"Lovely place. Very quiet, the hut was spotless. Matt was brilliant too, gave us all the info we needed before we arrived and just said give me a shout if you need anything which is perfect. Already looking at next year! 100% I would recommend!"
