Search Michiana hotels

The best area to stay in Michiana is along the Lake Michigan shoreline, particularly in the towns of New Buffalo and Union Pier.

New Buffalo is often considered the heart of Michiana, offering a mix of conveniences and direct beach access. The town is centred around its public beach and marina, with several shops and restaurants lining Whittaker Street. You'll find a good selection of boutique hotels and holiday rentals here, many within walking distance of the lake.

For families, New Buffalo is an excellent choice. The public beach is well-maintained and offers plenty of space for children to play, and the marina provides opportunities for boat trips and water sports. There are also ice cream parlours and casual dining options that cater to all ages.

Union Pier, just a short drive north of New Buffalo, offers a slightly more secluded and residential feel. It's known for its private beaches and a collection of charming holiday cottages and upscale inns. The area maintains a relaxed pace, with fewer commercial establishments than New Buffalo.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate Union Pier. The private beaches offer a quiet escape, superb for long walks or simply relaxing by the water.
