The best area to stay in Metokhi is the central village area, particularly around the main square and the waterfront.

This area is the heart of Metokhi, offering easy access to everything. You'll find a selection of tavernas, cafes, and local shops lining the streets that lead down to the small harbour. The main square is a focal point, often bustling with local life, and it's where the ferry connections to the islands depart. It's a compact and very walkable area.

For couples looking for a relaxed and convenient base, staying close to the harbour is ideal. You can enjoy strolls along the water, dine at waterfront restaurants with views of the Saronic Gulf, and easily catch a ferry for a day trip to nearby islands like Hydra or Poros.

Families, especially those with older children, will also appreciate the central village. It provides a good balance of activity and relaxation. There are often small play areas near the waterfront, and the ease of access to local eateries means you won't have to venture far for meals.

The best time to visit Metokhi is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, and September, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are fewer.

During these months, you'll experience warm, sunny days superb for exploring the local area and enjoying the beaches without the intense heat and larger crowds of July and August. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, making it ideal for those who want to combine sightseeing with relaxing by the water.

This period is particularly good for families looking for a relaxing holiday. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for children, and the reduced number of visitors means a more laid-back experience at attractions and restaurants. You'll find it easier to book excursions and secure a table at popular eateries.

Couples seeking a romantic getaway will also appreciate the quieter atmosphere of the shoulder seasons.
