"I booked and paid for my one night more than six months ago. A few days before my arrival I wrote to the hotel and informed them of my arrival time. I received an answer back telling me that I would be welcomed at that time. However, standing at the reception in the evening at my arrival, I was informed that I had no booking at the hotel. I showed the receptionist my confirmed booking. I showed proof of my payment. And I kept getting the same response: “You don’t have a booking, and there is no...

Hotel Piolets Soldeu Centre by Nexta

Hotel Piolets Soldeu Centre by Nexta

10/10 Excellent
"Our first impressions were mixed as this was our first time at a ski resort in the summer and there was some building work outside of the hotel we didn’t know about that concerned me and a lot of the guests were more senior so we were skeptical . We quickly changed our minds. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, we all had plenty of room and the bathrooms were very generous. The sliding doors blocked the outside noise! Not sure where I’d hang all the wet ski stuff but not a problem this time. The food was great, good selection, especially good breakfast buffet. Staff lovely and helpful. Spa and gym very well equipped . Shame it wasn’t open for longer hours. Hotel arranged a massage for one of us, they were especially lovely to my son who happens to be Autistic, I was very impressed by their kindness in this regard. The entertainment was really good also and not just for families with little kids, everyone got involved. We liked the whole multigenerational vibe here . Soldeu has some excellent restaurants and loads to do at a very reasonable price. We will definitely back to ski ! Thank you x"

The best area to stay in Mérial is around the tranquil Lac de Mérial.

This area is the heart of Mérial, offering direct access to the lake itself and the surrounding walking trails. It's characterised by its natural beauty, with clear waters and views of the Pyrenees foothills. The main facilities, such as the local auberge and any small shops, are typically found close to the lake's shores.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying near Lac de Mérial is ideal. You can enjoy strolls around the lake, picnics by the water, and simply relax in a calm setting away from the bustle of city life. It's superb for unwinding and enjoying nature together.

When is the best time to go to Mérial?
Mérial is a small village. The best time to visit Mérial is during the warmer months, particularly from late spring to early autumn (May to October), when the weather is most suitable for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the region.

For those who enjoy hiking, cycling, and exploring the Pyrenees foothills, June to September offers the most reliable weather with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. This period is ideal for experiencing the local walking trails, such as those around Lac de Montbel, or discovering the surrounding forests and hills.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find Mérial particularly appealing in May, early June, or October. During these shoulder seasons, the countryside is beautiful, with wildflowers in spring or autumn colours, and the area is generally quieter than in the peak summer months.
