Unique stay in the Sassi (old town) of Matera. The accommodation is in a cave type room (no windows), it can also be quite damp. The location is fantastic and very easy to find with the hosts instruction. There is no laundry at this location, all though it was advertised.

Unique sassi stay ...
We had a lovely stay, Marta provided us with excellent information. We were lucky to have an upgrade and was given the studio room. It was spacious with authentic cave room experience. The closest and cheapest pay parking is approx. 11 mins. walk. I strongly encourage travelling light as you will be dragging your suitcases in uneven surfaces. Breakfast is ok, enough to give you energy to start your day. The host will make you a nice Italian coffee. The room is clean, strategically located near amazing restaurants and popular sites, with lovely owners, so if this is what you need, then you are in the right place.

Wonderful
Wonderful hotel and staff. Martha met us and assisted to get to the room . She also sent a video that was helpful. Room was spectacular and location was amazing. Breakfast was lovely . Hotel was close to all attractions. Patio was lovely for your own personal happy hour . Train station access as well to connect to other destinations .

Wonderful Matera
A wonderful hotel in the Sassi area of Matera.We had a superb room and admired the views from our window. We unfortunately had a very late check in due to fkight delays and this wasnt a problem. Cant recommended this traditional and quaint hotel enough. Thank you

A pleasant stay
It is comfortable and clean, and it complies with a reasonable standard. The service was good and it is very well located, with a nice view and relatively near the parking availbale.

An amazing stay in a Sassi cave
The hotel communicated very well on how we could find them and where they would meet us which was very helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable with all the modern touches that you would expect in a conventional hotel but in a cave! The breakfast was very generous and delicious and the host were very welcoming

The best thing about Corte vetere is Angela and her staff. A well run B&B in a perfect location. This is a B&B that has an actual breakfast! Coffee and an impressive array of pastries served at large tables where you can visit with the other guests. We had fun.

Beautiful B&B Sassi
Beautiful Bed and Breakfast in the Heart of the Sassi. Short walk to main plazas and restaurants. Breakfast was great, and the owner was great and check in simple.

Best way to see Matera.
Incredible view of the old city from the veranda! Wonderful breakfast. Staying in a Matera in a modernized cave home is the best way to see the city.

La Corte Vetere is in the heart of old Matera which is magnificent. It is impossible to get to by car so we were met in the main square and escorted - we would never have found it ourselves! But this was part of the magic, the labyrinth of ancient streets is quite extraordinary. We had been allocated a double room and needed a twin room so the owner quickly offered us a suite at no extra charge. This was in a cave dug into the rock but beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was ample and served on a small terrace with a view over the town. For anyone with mobility problems Matera would be very challenging as the streets twist and turn with lots of steps and polished stones but for anyone else it’s a very special place not to be missed. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and this was a great start to our holiday in southern Italy.

La Matera can be a difficult place to negotiate. Nothing is easy and everything requires long walks over uneven stones. It is however well worth the effort. Our hotel is just immediately away from the main square. A SHORT walk (you’re going to thank me for this) and you arrive at a fabulous small hotel (the owner came to the square to walk us over). I could describe it all but I’m on vacation. Just GO it’s great.

I Loved It!❤️
La Corte Vetere was all I'd hoped it would be! Charming,clean, and right in the heart of the Sassi. The rooms have names, I was in the one called Camino. The breakfast was simple but nice and a little patio of to the side gave you a spectacular view.

Well located, great view of the Sassi
Room No. 2 was large and airy, great shower and with a fabulous view over the Sassi. The continental breakfast is simple; eating outside in the front courtyard was very pleasant. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The B&B is very well located under the Duomo and the walk to get to it from Piazza Sedile is not too far nor is the walk down to Via Fiorentini where there are some good restaurants. The mattress was a bit soft and there is no cooling but in mid June with the windows open at night it was cool and easy to sleep.

Pros- great location to see sassi, loved the professional Music studio that filled the area with sounds of musical instruments, great view from our window, staff helpful about giving directions when they were there, nice courtyard with view to enjoy a drink, room had a sofa bed with a bit firmer mattress that I was able to use. Cons- really soft bed that sagged a bit in middle and made sleeping uncomfortable and difficult. Don't stay here if you need a firm mattress, breakfast was typical Italian breakfast with yogurt, pastries, fruit and coffee..no protein offered, staff wasn't always available to get assistance.

Unique and memorable accomodation
We stayed in the luxurious cave suite. It was an experience unlike any other. The ambience was set with beautiful lighting which made for a magical and surreal atmosphere.

Stay a night or two in a real cave.
Unique, central location with very friendly and accomodating staff. Parking not available. Access to hotel requires a bit of a walk in the old city up and down stone stairways and through stone alleyways. Fun, but don't try to carry much and you'll be unable to roll your roller bags.

La Corte makes your visit to Matera visit comfortable and delightful! The service and cleanliness are wonderful. Delicious buffet breakfast with fresh coffee. Angela and Mateo help with all your questions. Perfect location and views!

眺めが良い
ホテルからサッシを見渡すことができて、眺めがとにかく素晴らしいです。部屋も清潔で申し分なく、場所が少し分かりづらいですが、スタッフと連絡を取りながら丁寧に誘導してくれました。

Authentisch Übernachten mitten in der Altstadt
Ein wundervolles BB in alten, kühlen Gemäuern. Ein grosser Vorteil in der glühenden Sommerhitze. Sehr nettes Personal. Die Unterkunft liegt mitten in der Altstadt. Ein gutes italienisches Frühstück mit selbsgebackenem Kuchen.

Week end nel sasso
Struttura ricettiva disposta su più livelli separati fra loro. Il "sasso" assegnato per tre persone era molto ampio dotato di letto matrimoniale e due divani letto, comprensivo di angolo cottura accessoriato e bagno con doccia. Ambiente pulito e accogliente. Colazione (servita al piano superiore in una sala che funziona da reception) molto varia e abbondante (dolci casalinghi, mini cornetti appena sfornati, frutta, yogurt succhi di frutta, bevande calde...). Gestito da persone molto accoglienti e disponibili. Zona centralissima e tranquilla proprio sotto il duomo, con bella vista sui sassi

Avec bagages légers et la voiture au parking pasquale neva l'hôtel est assez proche au milieu des sassis. La propriétaire est charmante et l'endroit est bien rénové
