"The setting of this hotel is stunning - you can see the rice fields from the lobby and the pools. This was the highlight of our Laos trip. Check in staff (and all staff we encountered) were so friendly and we really appreciated an upgrade to a bigger room and a cake for my birthday! The only thing I'd really recommend the hotel improving (or guests staying away from) is the western food which was weird and not great. "We very much enjoyed our stay in Villa Maly. The people all over the resort were all very friendly and serviceminded. The pool area is cosy. The location is within walking distance from the more busy part of Luang Prabang. But this place was very peaceful and fairly quiet (except when the neighbour had karaoke going).
