The best area to stay in Lorca is the historic city centre, particularly around the Plaza de España.

This central area is the heart of Lorca, known for its well-preserved Baroque architecture and pedestrian-friendly streets. The Plaza de España is a grand public square, home to the impressive Collegiate Church of San Patricio and the Town Hall. From here, you're within easy walking distance of most of Lorca's main attractions, including the Lorca Castle and the various museums.

Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic and culturally rich getaway. The historic streets are superb for leisurely strolls, and there are plenty of traditional restaurants and tapas bars to enjoy. The evening ambiance around the Plaza de España is particularly pleasant, offering a relaxed setting for dinner and drinks.

For those interested in history and local culture, staying in the centre puts you right at the doorstep of the city's heritage. You'll be able to explore the narrow lanes, discover hidden courtyards, and visit the many churches and palaces that tell the story of Lorca's past.

The best time to go to Lorca is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, making it comfortable for exploring the town's historic sites and the surrounding countryside without the intense heat of summer. You'll find fewer crowds than in peak summer, which means a more relaxed experience at attractions and restaurants.

For travellers interested in cultural events, spring is particularly appealing as it often coincides with local festivals and processions, offering a deeper insight into Lorca's traditions.
