"I stayed here with my 4 Yr old granddaughter the hotel and amenities were great The only downside was the food we stayed on a dinner and breakfast deal but found that the buffet lacked choice as very few options the salad bar was ok"

"We were woken at 7am by a fire alarm and had to evacuate our room with a baby and a 6-year-old, only for it to stop before we even reached the muster point. It was later explained, quite casually, that it was caused by someone showering with the bathroom door open. Given there’s a sign warning about “sensitive” alarms, this doesn’t feel like a one-off and isn’t acceptable in a family hotel where sleep is already precious. We stayed at Macdonald Aviemore Resort as a family of four. When we raised this, along with a broken kettle, reception initially offered complimentary breakfast but later withdrew it after checking with a manager, which felt poorly handled. The hotel itself feels tired and in need of investment. Our room was small, especially with a cot, the shower was only lukewarm, and carpets were dirty with an unpleasant smell. The lift also smelt strongly of smoke. There are positives: the pool and facilities are good and we enjoyed them, though some maintenance is needed (hair dryers out of order, puddles on the floor, drains not very clean). The outdoor park is great for kids but also showing wear. Aviemore is a fantastic location, but the resort feels like it’s relying on that rather than maintaining standards, it’s certainly not 4 star. With better upkeep, it could be much better."

"The room was perfect for our short stay in Aviemore. The location was located perfectly and surprisingly quiet even though the main road is next to it. There is parking which is easily accessible and was located to the apartment right next to it."

"Great for young children, lots to do within the resort, breakfast was nice with lots of choice. Room was clean, but the hotel on a whole needing a bit of upgrading and decorating. Would recommend though and would return."

"We had a wonderful week at Coorie Lodge. The house was modern and more spacious than we expected and was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the views across the golf course and the cairngorm mountains. The games room in the garage gave the children plenty to do when we were not out and about. Having the Speyside way on our doorstep meant we could just nip out for quick walks and bike rides in the mornings and evenings around the main activities of the day. There was so much to do in and around Aviemore that we could happily have spent longer there and the children have been talking about going back everyday since"

"This is a well-looked-after modern refurbishment of an older property. The rooms are compact but very nicely presented. There is a really nice restaurant downstairs as well The restaurant does really good breakfasts and has a good evening small plates menu "
