"We booked for two nights expecting more to explore. In early Dec? Many things are closed (historical sites, etc). If you're passing thru' I'd say Piombino is a nice town for a one night stop. Especially if en route to Elba. Otherwise? Well this hotel has a perfect location if arriving by triain (3 min walk). And it's right at the top of the pedestrian zone going down to the water. "The views are amazing! The room overlooked the sea and there were lots of outdoor spaces to sit. The breakfast was great with so many pastries, meats, cheeses and the gentleman who set it up and made my cappuccino was very friendly! "Il Perseo is actually several separate buildings connected by garden paths - the main building fronts the road and contains the restaurant, the other rooms are further uphill and are cheaper. Chiessi is a very small village with a rocky, pebbly beach…not much here but could be a base for hikers or cyclists. The staff are young college students and are friendly, energetic and carry your bags up the stairs or up the hill…"
