  • I took this in March in Sintra, Portugal! It's at the fairy tale castle Pena Palace :). This is one of the lovely close-up views. It's is a Romanticist castle that stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains. And undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in Portugal. And a dream come true to visit it! It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Easy access to highways and indoor free parking, great pools indoor and out. It has great activities for kids which I didn’t have with me and breakfast is a very nice spread . I have been here 5 times and the location , price, and free parking, also pools is what makes me coming back , when I travel to Portugal.

The hotel facilities are very good. We stayed in March so we couldn't take advantage of the many swimming pools, however the views from our rooms made this stay very enjoyable. It's close proximity to Sintra palaces make it an ideal place to stay.

Great but bring your own TP!

We had a relaxing stay at Vila Gale. It’s a beautiful property. The restaurant service staff were all great. However for a five start hotel the beds should be more comfortable and please get softer toilet paper! The toilet paper was so rough and cheap.

The kids' club activities proved to be a highlight for our children, providing them with entertaining and engaging experiences. Majority of facilities - kids pool, play areas - closed without warning. Which sortof ruined out stay with young children. Dozens of minor inconveniences: the need to enter your passport details (!) to see the room service menu, the fact that getting into the indoor pool is more admin than boarding a domestic flight, the refusal to replenish bottled water, the fact the Do Not Disturb sign is each day hidden rather than left on the door handle interior, the poor quality food in the bar, the inattentiveness and unconcerned attitude of staff.. Smashed glass (bauble from Christmas tree) left on the floor in the lobby…. being told we weren’t permitted to eat at specific tables in the lobby, next to the bar which servces food.. all of which add up to a poor experience. We did complain and were offered a sad plate of pre-cut pineapple in sellophane as an apology.

Breakfast was pretty good. For the amount of money that you pay per night, the hotel should provide in-room complementary coffee. also, guests should have the option to put a “do not disturb” sign.
