"The hotel was fascinating with its history on display through pictures, art, antiques and the quirkiness of a centuries old building. We enjoyed Sunday roast dinner and the full breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with local advice. Our room was a mixture of antique decorations and a very modern bathroom filled with amenities. It was the perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside and our crazy experiences at the famous cheese roll. I highly recommend a stay!"

"The staff is amazing. The breakfast at a small extra fee was delicious. It is in the middle of the historic downtown Gloucester which I hope the city continues to renovate. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating is that the WiFi is spotty in the rooms. The owners have embraced their history; the ambience is charming and looks like it is from a different time. "

"Loved the ambience of the property. Spent a very relaxing, peaceful afternoon in the bar area, sitting in the sun with a lovely coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved this hotel and would stay again. Two recommendations for the hotel to think about...1. "Very friendly staff "

"We were upgraded to an open-plan room which was very odd in design. It felt like the walls of the bathroom had not been built. The room was jaded but adequate for a night’s stay. The shower (in the room) was awful and kept cutting out. It ran out of hot water. The staff were very friendly and the public seating / bar areas looked good but we didn’t use them. Overall, perfectly adequate for a night’s stay and very central. A little underwhelming."
