"Room was quite small but very well equiped, everything worked and there was a bottle of chilled water in the fridge which was very much appreciated. Pool looked nice (didn't use it but several people did), not much in the way of a garden, small but well stocked bar. Restauarant was superb, really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection and good coffee from the machine. Hotel was very easy to find."

8/10 Good

"Room was clean, quite basic but fine for our one night stay, great location 5mins from train station & walkable into town and canal. No frills but clean & nice bathroom. Bed was comfortable."

Tribe Carcassonne

8/10 Good

"The hotel has a great view of the castle and the roof top bar is definitely a bonus. The room was clean and have everything we needed however the toilet was in what can only be described as a cupboard with no space at all. The decor was too dark so much so that we couldn’t find the light switches! The carpet was black and when we dropped a black hair brush on the floor it took us 10 Minutes to find it!"

Premiere Classe Pamiers

8/10 Good

"First experience of this type of accommodation. Very inexpensive and convenient. Perfect for a cheap stopover. Very compact but has all you need great for the price. Was able to check in on machine which issues the door card. Secure parking. Supermarket and dining including McDonalds close by. Quieter than thought would be. Due a refurbishment as bit tatty but brilliant for the money"

Sowell Collection Hotel du Roi & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"Awesome and well priced hotel withing a small walk across the river to the main bars and restaurants, maybe a 4/5 min slow walk and within a 15min walk of the main event of the Citadel, mind this is all up hill. Car parking is free on street if you park in the public carpark by the river which is only a 80-100m walk. Hotel itself is lovely, a bath in the room, open walk through shower and a view of the Citadel and bridge on an evening to take many pictures from. We didn't eat at the hotel, a short 2-3 min walk gets you to all a selection of restaurants, cafe's and boulangerie's over the river. Great queen bed, pillows and shower and the room was immaculate."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lignairolles?

The best area to stay in Lignairolles is directly within the village itself, or in one of the well-appointed gîtes or renovated farmhouses in the immediate surrounding countryside.

The village of Lignairolles offers a tranquil, rural experience. It's a small, traditional French village with a local church and a few scattered houses, set amongst rolling hills and sunflower fields. The pace of life here is slow and peaceful, making it an ideal retreat from busy city life.

For couples seeking a quiet escape, staying in a gîte or a renovated farmhouse just outside the village offers privacy and stunning views of the Occitan countryside. These accommodations often come with private pools and terraces, superb for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.

When is the best time to go to Lignairolles?

The best time to go to Lignairolles is typically from late spring to early autumn, specifically between May and September, to make the most of the pleasant weather and outdoor activities.

During these months, the Lignairolles area experiences warm, sunny days, great for exploring the local countryside, visiting nearby villages, or simply relaxing by a pool. July and August are the warmest, with temperatures often reaching the high 20s or even low 30s Celsius, which is ideal for those who enjoy sunbathing and outdoor dining.

For those who prefer slightly milder temperatures and fewer crowds, May, June, and September are excellent choices. The weather is still very agreeable, with plenty of sunshine, but the heat is less intense, making it comfortable for hiking, cycling, and visiting local markets without feeling overwhelmed. These shoulder months also offer good value on accommodation.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find May, June, or September particularly appealing. The vineyards are lush, and the opportunities for long walks and picnics are plentiful, with the added benefit of quieter surroundings at popular attractions.

Families travelling with children might prefer July and August, when the warmer temperatures are great for swimming and outdoor play.
