"Lovely old pub. Comfortable room with everything supplied. Nicely decorated. Not spotlessly clean, but it was dog friendly. Friendly, helpful staff. Great base to come back to after walking. Easy walk into Hawes. Good atmosphere for an enjoyable drink or food. Open fires were lit and so relaxing to sit by. Good breakfast with excellent service. We are already thinking about a return visit. "

"Lovely location and staff. Shower was a bit difficult to get working and pressure was poor, but it's an old castle. Some extra charges for a cot, even though the room was booked as 2 adults with 1 toddler, not sure if hotels.com or the actual hotel's problem but something between them one way or another. Made the trip look cheaper than it was."

"Fantastic public house which serves great food. There is not much to do in the surrounding Area but its a great place to meet up with friends or family and dine together. Rooms are failrly reasonably priced and clean. Shame there isnt an option for breakfast."

"When we booked in they didn't have our name on their list or that we had a dog. The room we were given was a little dated considering the amount we had paid and comparing against other properties that we had stayed at. The food was very good and the service was quick. Wifi was non existant in the bedroom but fine in the pub. All the staff were nice. The village itself was beautiful."

"Very pleasant stay in the center of a charming market town with many independent shops with the castle and the river to explore. The staff were excellent and made us very welcome. We found everything that you could possibly want in our rooms - quality bedding, Nespresso coffee machine, high quality toiletries, and many other nice touches. Breakfast was excellent. There was good parking at the rear (payable)."
