We had a wonderful stay in Hotel Le Champlain for our wedding anniversary. Beautiful hotel in a great location and Jean and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Thoroughly recommend staying here if you're visiting La Rochelle.

Lovely building, restored nicely. Pleasant, spacious room, nice garden area, good breakfast, friendly helpful staff. Great location and handy nearby parking at discount rate.

Stay at Le Champlain
We were very happy with our stay .Staff were freindly and very helpful. The room was lovely looking out over the garden. It was also quiet, but an easy walk into La Rochelle centre.

hotel with charm and character
Very close to the bus station which is very convenient yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Lovely old building with a good size private rear garden where guests can take breakfast or just lounge in the sun. Internally the decor and furniture would not be out of place in a stately home. It has character. Friendly and helpful staff make it a very pleasant experience. This was our second visit but will not be the last.

Very good overnight stop
Following a flight cancellation, this was an overnight stop book at the last minute. As it was low season, and the hotel not very busy, we were upgraded to a superior room, which was extremely comfortable. The adjacent private car park was very convenient, but should be booked in advance as spaces are limited. Good selection of restaurants around the indoor market, within easy walking distance.

The La Rochelle Best Western Champlain France Angleterre was perfectly located for walking straight into town to anywhere. The staff were friendly and helpfull, the rooms were nice, and the bathroom was very good.

Stayed for one night to explore La Rochelle hotel is in a good position with very friendly helpful staff. Our room was a little dated and could have done with a refurb. Other rooms seemed to be in better condition.We had a good stay and for what we paid it was value for money.

Good position with very helpful people
Stayed for 3 days and found this to be in a good location, close to the bus station and an easy stroll down to the waterfront. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and the room a good size for a city hotel

Lovely old French Hotel in a quiet area of town.
This Hotel is in an area away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour area. The staff are lovely and very helpful and the rooms are spacious with excellent bathrooms. The big bonus is the beautiful garden for breakfast or a pre-dinner drink. We stayed five nights and explored both La Rochelle and the Isle de Ra (by bus which is a bargain at 5 euros for the whole day) Part of the Hotel was an old monastery and has a very ornate staircase. The one problem that may cause some people problems is that it has not got a disables access and there are several steps to the entrance to the building.

Elegant and full of charm
Hotels must have two things beyond all else, comfort and helpful staff. The Hotel Champlain has these in abundance. Add to them elegant decoration, and furnishings from the Belle Epoque and bathrooms full of 21st Century style, and a guest can relax in style. This hotel has more than a touch of class.

we had a 3 night break at this hotel ,it was a great location ,central to walk to all the sights ,quiet, big rooms ,clean and great staff .good value for money. didn't book breakfast as we found a lovely patisserie by the port for morning coffee and pasteries .

Lovely, historic hotel in quiet, central location.
Lovely ambience, handy for park, shops, buses and only a short, pleasant walk from the historic harbour. Amazingly peaceful in spite of its convenient location. Can't wait to go back.

Convenient, welcoming hotel
Finding the hotel by car was a little fraught - narrow one-way streets, traffic, cyclists, pedestrians. But the location in the city centre meant we could walk everywhere and we left the car in secure parking (available for an extra charge) next to the hotel. The hotel was quiet and comfortable though lacking in public amenities (only a bar and a breakfast room). We didn't have breakfast as it seemed over-priced for what was on offer. The reception staff were very helpful.

Above average hotel. One night stay. Close to local restaurants and centre of La Rochelle. Garage parking next to hotel for €8. Very comfortable super king size bed. Quite room over looking garden Thank you for fresh milk on request for our tea. Just the cream on the top of an excellent stay Thoroughly recommended

Good location and period rooms
We stayed in a very attractive and spacious prestige room in the old part of the hotel. The decor, period furnishings, including comfortable chairs, and space added to our enjoyment. Staff were helpful and charming. The location, close to the fin de siecle Cafe de la Paix, where we breakfasted, was excellent.

Loved it and will definitely return! Super friendly and attentive service, gorgeous room with plenty of space and large bed. Bathroom was very modern and luxurious. The hotel is in the centre but tucked away in a quiet area...couldn't be any better

Great location in La Rochelle
We totally enjoyed staying at this hotel. The front desk staff personnel were very helpful and accomodating. The location of the hotel is excellent and within a ten minute walk to the waterfront. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. This hotel is a great value for the price.

Pleasant hotel with extremely easy access by car
The breakfast room is pleasing to the eye and also opened onto lovely Italianate garden where we ate. There are a few comfortable recliners to relax in. The choices for breakfast didn't disappoint and overall was an enjoyable experience for the price.

Beautiful hotel with a classic vintage feel to it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beyond our expectations, with high ceilings, tasteful furnishings and a bed that was everything that comfortable and luxurious should be. The en-suite bathroom was of a similar standard. 10/10
